Over weight (fat) pitchers have a tendancy to "wither/wilt/fade" when the heat of the "dog-days" sets in(mid-July til Labor day).

More often then not, thin ("lean") pitchers handle the heat better.

He's pitching much better than usual today, but you're right, the guy is awful as a starter. The Yanks may still win this game, but I'm kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on Detroit today. Huge pitching advantage and they're playing to avoid the sweep. Tremendous value with the Tigers if you ask me...

Oh and please drug test Joba right after the game. He has been throwing 90-92mph all season and now all the sudden he is throwing 97-98mph. Wasn't his idol Clemens?
