Edmonton at Saskatchewan (-4.5, 55)
Saskatchewan’s offense was overwhelmed in Montreal mauling. Signal caller Darien Durant was unimpressive, which might be why the Roughriders signed Texas Tech alum Graham Harrell. Saskatchewan has to keep from making so many offensive mistakes as defense is placed in bad field position time and again and is sixth in points allowed at 34.,3 despite division leading 2-1 (2-1ATS) record. They will try and rebound quickly and are 14-5 ATS in the first half of the season since 2007.
Edmonton (1-2 SU&ATS) is also having defensive issues, lots of issues, yielding 90 points the last two contests. The Eskimos haven’t been able to stop the run or the pass, as CFL’s worst defensive unit is being bludgeoned for 427.7 yards per game. The pass defense in particular is alarming, surrendering league-worst by far 9.5 yards per attempt. Edmonton comes in only 2-6 ATS off a spread loss.
With these being the two worst defensive squads in the CFL, playing the OVER would stand to reason. That might be a smart wager since these West rivals are 6-1 OVER in Saskatchewan. The Roughriders also look potent 7-1-1 ATS in July, with Edmonton 2-7 ATS playing as visitor.
