IF THE YANKS LOSE...need a little insight from fellow RXers.

If the Yanks lose, do you think it would be a good idea to go big on Boston tonight?

I just don't see NY and Boston both losing at home, to two shitty teams, against two shitty pitchers, in the same day. Plus, Boston needs to win to gain ground on NY anyway.

Boston offense has been terrible as of late, but maybe they break out a little tonight? Baltimore pitcher Guthrie is not that good, and last time he faced Boston he gave up 10 runs, i think?? Looks like a good spot for Boston bats.

Moreover, Lester owns Baltimore. 8-0 or 9-0??? He has pitched well all year, including a great last outing against Tor. He should be able to handle the Os tonight, right?

I would like to know what others think. Any input is welcome.

Lester is far better than guthie.. but you never know, thats why they play the game

Seriously. Please don't use this as betting logic. Its still July. It's happened before and it will happen again. Yes Sox should win, but it has nothing to do with NY/Bos both being at home losing.

Neither events are related to each other in any way, shape, or form. Don't let another games end result change the way you look at this one. It's just another baseball game among others.

That said, if you like Lester, bet him. But don't go crazy. Boston hasn't put much up offensively lately.

One more thing...I said above that I don't see Boston and NY both losing to "two shitty pitchers"...I want to clarify that Gio Gonzalez has pitched one hell of a game up to this point (in the 7th). I just meant generally -up to this point in the year. You know what I mean.

Reason why i stay away from games that fucking juiced. Only value on them is only if you plan to take the + money only.

I agree, Boston offense has looked pathetic lately. That's what makes me hesitate making a play on them.

I understand what you guys are saying about it is just another game, out of many. And I agree that it is bad logic to say two good teams can't get beat in the same day. There are many important factors to take into acount such as pitching matchups, injuries, etc.

However, you have to admit that two of the best teams in MLB, NYY (with a home record of 43-16) plays against Oakland, who is 18-30 on the road and gets beat, then right after Boston (who is 32-14 at home) gets beat by Baltimore (15-33 on the road) is kind of like lightning striking in the same spot twice.

I'm always nervous when I see streaks in baseball over 6 or 7. Everyone loses in baseball every once in a while. I'm talking about Lester being 8-0 or 9-0, whatever he is, against Baltimore.

to be totally honest..if you really need to ask that question and don't know the answer to it you need to stop gambling in all forms starting now...not forever..just stop now...cash out what you can where you have it...Then start reading this forum (go back 1-2 years and everything about gambling, you can skip drama stuff,) and read as much as you can about gambling, handicapping, money management, low juice books, exchanges, the falicy of systems, overlays, probabilities, line moves, etc. etc. etc.

Do this for approx 1 year. for the second half lf that year get back in with wagers on paper only..

in one year you will then be ready to come back with the same funds or maybe some more that you have tucked away and win at this "hobby"...

I have been betting for about 15 years. These days I mainly dabble around and play for fun. Example, I started with $500 at about a month into baseball season, and now have $1,500. I did not ask anyone to come in here and tell me how to gamble. The question I posed is not my theory on gaming - it is merely an attempt to get others impression to see if it influences betting.

34islucky mentioned that taking Lester is kind of scary because of his undefeated record against Balt. What goes up, must come down sometime right? I know there is a lot of season left, but in order for Boston to stay in the hunt for the division they must win against these shit teams, especially when Yanks lose. Don't you think there maybe just a little extra spark under their asses tonight to get out and play hard?

If yanks wanted to win they would of told Posada to bunt them over so they had runners on 3rd and 2nd with 1 out. That way a single will tie the game instead he gets into a double play.

You need to stop thinking "superstition" and start thinking "fact". Yes, it was about a 90% chance that both Boston and New York wouldn't lose today. But, with a loss by New York, it changes those odds. It is now 40% that Boston and New York won't both lose. The odds don't stay at 90%, they change with results.

Doggieinvestor - let me ask the question in another fashion.

Could you see Terry Francona, just before the game starts tonight, say to his team, "Alright fellas, Yanks lost today. Let's go out there and play hard - let's gain some ground on 1st place!" Something to an effect to spark a fire under thier asses.

Because if you think that is a reasonable hypothetical, if that is not too far-fetched to imagine, then the Yanks losing today has some effect on the Boston game.
