Wow did Seattle miss their opportunity to trade him...
I can't believe they're trying to pretend like they're contenders with that doo doo lineup.

The problem was he never had any trade value. If he did, he would have been gone a long time ago. Nobody wants a guy who goes on the DL everytime he gets a hangnail. And the rare times he IS healthy, he has a helluva time getting past the 5th inning. Pretty soon here he will be a reliever in someone's bullpen. The days of him being a starter are almost over.

One thing I forgot to add though... you're absolutely right that they are blowing it by not being sellers at the deadline. This was a team that was supposed to finish 10-15 games under .500, but they've been overachieving all year long. They are NOT a good team, and my guess is they will be well below .500 by the end of the year. At the end of the year they will look back and kick themselves for not pulling the trigger when they should have.

I like Boston, too. Guthrie is an absolute gascan. The only thing that concerns me is the tendency of Boston's hitters to sleepwalk through games, and the fact that Lester is due for a clunker against the O's.

I hear what you're saying (and agree with the breakdown of Bedard word for word), I guess I just meant he looked sharp for the 1st 2 months there, and that maybe they could have moved him then (not that teams really trade at that point in the season).
Saw this coming with Bedard even when he was pitching well, everyone else probably did too though.
