Hey guys, Im thinking about gettin a iphone cause everything i hear about them is that there amazing. But i have some questions first hopefully you guys can help out:

I dont really understand 8 GB, 16 GB, 32 GB ....im assuming thats the memory on the phone?? I probably wont put a whole lot of music on it...so am i better off just getting the 8 GB one? or if you add Apps does that take up memory and if so how much?

i really want the phone to surf the net while I'm not home (like these forums, and my online book- 5DIMES)

which brings me to my next question, on the iphone can you even get on those websites and are they easy to use on the phone?

and u have to purchase the data plan ...so the net is basically unlimited? you can never be charged for going over a certain amount of time or anything?

and finally...is it easy to text? everything is touch screen???

thanks in advance to anyone who answers :toast:

I've had an Iphone for over a year and I can definitely answer your questions.

8GB, 16GB etc is the hard drive space on your Iphone. If you're not going to be putting a lot of music and videos, then an 8GB will be just fine. Apps won't take too much space. An 8GB phone can hold a lot of photos and apps even if you have some songs on there. But if you're going to use it to watch video, or movies, you want something bigger.

Yes you can. You can pretty much go to any website. I use my Iphone all the time to access this forum and Betjamacia and WSEX. I don't have 5Dimes so I've never seen it on an Iphone but I'm sure it'll be fine on there.

and u have to purchase the data plan ...so the net is basically unlimited? you can never be charged for going over a certain amount of time or anything?

Yes the plan is unlimited. It's $30 a month for unlimited internet. You won't get charged extra unless you go out of the country and use the internet. As long as you are in the coverage area, you'll be fine.

and finally...is it easy to text? everything is touch screen???

I am used to it and can text pretty fast. I do still type with errors. Some will say they don't like it. I don't type a lot. No long emails. Nothing like that. Just little emails or text messages or anything short. So I'm fine with it. And most of it is touch screen.

I love my Iphone. I used to change phones once or twice a year but I can't imagine using another phone besides an Iphone for awhile. If you have any other question, I'll be glad to help.

5Dimes works great on iPhone. And all forums. The Internet can't be beat on it.

Just to add to Bennys comments I do believe it is 30 dollars for the data plan, then another 20 dollars for unlimited text plus more for the actual talking plan, correct?

I'm another person looking to pick up an I-Phone. My major concern is that there have been reports that if the IPhone gets slightly wet or even if there is a fair amount of moisture that the IPhone no longer works. Has anyone had experiences with this and if so, how can you properly protect the I-Phone. What is the best case to buy?

iphone/T-Mobile combo = $50 a month unlimited internet, 1000 peak/ unlimited off peak. Unlimited internet and phone = $60

5D works fine. Buy an 8G off ebay for couple hundred bucks with no contract jailbroken

I haven't had any problems with moisture. I've carried my Iphone snowboarding. I've carried it around through heavy rain. I haven't heard any problems about the moisture.

I had a friend who dropped his Iphone in the toilet (just water inside). He quickly grabbed it, dried it as much as he could, and it's still working fine.

I don't think any case is going to protect it from moisture. There are so many cases out there on the market for it. I have an Incase Slider case. It's my favorite case.

My gf's iPhone got knocked into the toilet (just water) and it we put it in box of rice (nice trick for getting moisture out of an iPhone, etc.) for a day or 2. It then worked fine, except the display wasn't quite right, but that came back to normal after another couple days.

get a palm pre.....I have had the iphone and the pre is better.

Depends on the individual situation, but unless he's tied into AT&T, Palm Pre is definitely worth a look. Some areas AT&T is better, more areas Sprint is better. Sprint/Pre plan is also quite a bit less expensive. Pre owns on multitasking, which, once you have it, you'll never want to go without it. Much like a computer, I can have 5 web browsers (plus other stuff) open at once and be able to easily swithc between pages, all staying live and active. iphone? Uhhh. not so much. Now if you need 60,000 fart apps then iphone is still the way to go, but for true functionality, Pre wins hands down. The other major consideration is whether or not you want a physical keyboard. Really a personal preference issue. Pre also just added NFL Mobile, which looks kick-ass. If you want to play a lot of music and mess around with thousands of useless apps, then iphone is the way to go; if you want multitasking and true functionality, then go with Pre. As for webpages, the rendering and gestures are very similar between the phones.

Wait 2 years for the new technology. I think its called next generation signal or something.

Cell phones will be able to receive information at about 4 times the speed of a home computer hooked up to high speed cable today.

The NG signal will work even if your going 60 miles an hour in your car.

Re: battery -- I can't speak for others, and I know some have had complaints, but I have found the battery life to be superb. Sooooo much better than my last shitty phone, HTC Mogul. I'm at 96% right now after 6 hours today (light use today though). I have never had my phone die due to battery (I charge every night). I believe the advertised battery life is the same for Pre as for iphone, however a couple advantages Pre has: 1) Touchstone makes it so easy and convenient to charge and 2) unlike iphone you can actually remove the battery yourself (gee what a concept), which means a) you can keep a spare and b) there are some third party longer-life batteries out there, though I've yet to try.

Re: video -- that is one thing the new 3GS has over the current Pre....however, and this is just my opinion, I think there will be an update before long that will give video capability. It's in there. Pre does over the air updates (already 3 in less than 2 mos) that adds new features. Pre already plays videos superbly and has the software already in there to do video. I don't think it'll be long. I doubt it'll make me ditch my Flip HD though for when I want decent portable video.

Can you go back and forth between multiple books while staying live and logged in at each of them?
