I'm creating a computer program that crunches a bunch of data including the stats of the starting pitchers, relief pitchers and starting lineup.
I know that the starting lineup can be estimated (i don't wanna wait till it gets posted 30 mins before the game) based on whether the pitcher is left handed or right handed. But, what I want to know is if anyone has any idea if there is a general rule of thumb for whether a relief pitcher will be available or not.
Ideally I'm looking for a stat like "if relief pitcher A pitches 2 or more innings than there is a 95% chance he will not be back for the next game." I know that a stat that clean probably isn't available though, so any input would be greatly appreciated.
