Those making NFL betting picks can finally focus on their odds now that the Brett Favre saga is over, fingers crossed. But how much did he hurt the Vikings' chances in your offshore sportsbook?
The Vikings are still the favorites in the NFC North at +150, but some sports betting books have taken the football lines down for that division while the Vikings figure out their next move. Currently, Minnesota has a trio of Tarvaris Jackson, Sage Rosenfels and John David Booty going for the starter's role, and you would think that Jackson is the frontrunner despite some spotty play in his career. Whoever the quarterback is will have a solid line, but there's only really Bernard Berrian as a legitimate receiving threat, unless rookie Percy Harvin displays the explosiveness and versatility that made him one of the nation's most exciting players at Florida. To be honest, the Vikings didn't even need a quarterback that has to throw for 300 yards every game with Adrian Peterson, the league's leading rusher, in the backfield, but it doesn't hurt to have the option at least available, and none of Minnesota's pivots will be looked at as a threat to Philip Rivers' quarterback-rating title.

So where do the Vikings go from here? They may feel like they have to do something since Chicago went out and got Jay Cutler from Denver, while Green Bay has Aaron Rodgers. Even Detroit has No.1 pick Matt Stafford, although he'll obviously have a steep learning curve. The Vikings could make a run a Michael Vick, but after the boat party fiasco of 2005, Minnesota may be looking to stay out of the headlines. There's really not a lot out there the Vikings, so they may be stuck with their current trio, which may not be enough to put Minnesota at the top of the Super Bowl odds list.
