In reading another thread about this, I'm ticked off. First of all, when I make a play, I have absolutely no idea if a line is "bad". I don't shop numbers for anything. (I do buy bread and milk at Walmart, because they're generally cheaper.--LOL)
My point is--is there any type of rule written or unwritten about what's a "bad line"?

A "Bad Line" could be a number of things. You Must Shop around for the Best Line ? No ?

How many Outs ( Books ) do you have ??

Let's say you Bet the Mets Today......one shop has the Mets -140
now you go to your next Book that you use, and they have the Mets -130
That's Fine, no Problem there...

But let's say you go to your 3rd Book that you use. They have the Mets at Even ( +100 )

That's a Bad Line (<)<

I have one book, so not concerned what lines others have? ( In my opinion, the player should NEVER have to know--what's a "bad line"!

all that talk of bad lines is generally for people who have multiple outs and line shop.

to me when it comes to the vig or juice a 5-10 cent difference ain't mattering to me, or it ain't going to change my mind or influence me to either make the play or back off it.

now on spreads, a 1/2 point can make or break a play. so on spreads i would always try to get the best possible number.

I have a number that I will not lay or take --just a madeup number.
If the Mets as an example are -145 at most places, and your one book has them at -125; is that a "bad line"?

Sorry if that wasn't to your Liking ^^:)
But a 30 cent difference, isn't that bad.....when all other Shops have -130

So if the line for the Mets was -130 at 1 Book, and +130 at another Book
that would be a Bad Line.

Better Now ?? (<)<

Another rule of thumb (on the books perspective):

If you take the bad line, your a SHOT-TAKER.

If you take the line that benefits the book, you are a DUMB SHOT-TAKER.

I've always wondered about the young college kid betting on his schools football team. He's not line shopping, he only has 1 out, he puts his $50 bucks on the game, only for it to be cancelled because it was as they said, a bad line.

Then with some of the lower graded books, would it be a bad line if more players would of lost and the book could of profited. Then the book could then say it wasn't a bad line, that they had a lean and were taking a side, inviting more action on the other side. Seems like the book could take a free ride.

Can the books pick and choose what is a "Bad Line"?
