have a rottweiler, or large breed dog?

i got a 1 year old rott. keeping him occupied is a pain in the ass. when he was smaller a piece of rawhide would last all day, now it's gone in 10 minutes.

Buy him some little kittens

They're pretty cheap if you get them through Craigslist ads and I can't imagine he'd go through more than a half dozen a week.

Rotties are highly intelligent work dogs. They need activity. The Germans used them to pull carts. You need to train your dog before it's too late. Many books on the subject.

oh yeah, he's smart. i did pretty well teaching him the basics. i don't have him pulling carts or herding cattle, wish i could have done better teaching him to run with me though. he loves going to the opposite side of the tree or pole we happen to be going past.

just trying to find something i can do to occupy him during the downtime. rawhides are getting expensive and he let's me know when he's bored.
