Back with a bang and I will see all of you in the celebration thread once this is all said and done. Been laying low, watching how things go, betting on some ball games here and there but mostly concentrating on my next business investment that is going to be bigger than most can imagine. Anyways I just placed a $10 000 wager on this game tonight and there is no turning back.

Alright so after beating the Yankees 8 straight times to open 2009, the Red Sox have now lost to them three times in a row, they have looked awful in each and everyone one of those games, they have gone 18 innings without scoring a single run and they are losers of five straight games. This left me with only one option for this game tonight and that was:

Boston Red Sox ML +105

You can like it or you can hate it but the bottom line is my wager has already been placed and I am locked and loaded. If anyone is going to fuck this nice little run up for the Yankees it's going to be Andy Pettitte. I know his lifetime record against the Red Sox is pretty damn good at 16-9 in 31 career starts against the boys from Boston but that was in his prime and his prime is pretty damn far from here. In case you have not noticed, the confines of the the New Yankees Stadium have not been gentle with Pettitte this season and he seems to have some serious problems keeping the ball in the ballpark at home.

The problem with the Red Sox lately is their lack of power and their lack of production from some of the big bats on this team. Well expect that to change tonight. Check this out about Pettitte:

Andy Pettitte Road Starts (This Season)

10 Starts, 5-2 Record, 3.19 ERA, 1.28 WHIP, Opponents hitting .234, 3 HR's allowed

Andy Pettitte Home Starts (New Yankee Stadium)

12 Starts, 4-4 Record, 5.28 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, Opponents hitting .297, 13 HR's allowed

Wow wow wow! So he has made 2 more starts at home this season and allowed 10 more Home Runs at home than on the road. Once again the New Yankee Stadium has not been kind to Pettite at all and I don't see any reason for that to change in this game. The Red Sox offense has looked absolutely punchless the last two games after scoring 6 runs in the opener of this series but some of the veteran guys on this team are going to have to step things up to get this team back on track. One thing you can always rely on when it comes to good teams is for them to bounce back.

I wanted to also mention that looking back at last year's numbers, Andy Pettite struggled big time in both his home starts against the Red Sox last season and he has yet to face them at home in 2009. Check it out:

Andy Pettitte Home Starts vs. Boston in 2008

Jul. 3, 2008: 7-0 Loss, 4.2 Innings Pitched, 10 Hits, 5 ER's
Aug. 26, 2008: 7-3 Loss, 4.2 Innings Pitched, 9 Hits, 6 ER's

Those are some horrendous numbers.

Red Sox Potential Lineup (vs. Pettitte)

Jacoby Ellsbury is batting .500 career vs. Pettitte (10 AB's)
Victor Martinez
is batting .300 career vs. Pettitte (10 AB's)
Kevin Youkilis
is batting .429 career vs. Pettitte (22 AB's)
David Ortiz is batting .370 career vs. Pettitte (46 AB's)
Mike Lowell is batting .348 career vs. Pettitte (23 AB's)
J.D. Drew
is batting .345 career vs. Pettitte (29 AB's)
Casey Kotchman
is batting .500 career vs. Pettitte (2 AB's)
Nick Green
is batting .333 career vs. Pettitte (3 AB's)

The last point I would like to make is that when the Red Sox have needed someone to desperately pull them out of a jam or desperately needed someone to step in and get them a win against the Yankees, Jon Lester has been the one guy who has not disappointed. He has done it both at the old Yankee Stadium and at the new Yankee Stadium (where he is already 1-0 this season). Checkout his numbers (career) in New York City:

Jon Lester at Yankee Stadium (Old and New)

3 Starts, 2-0 Record, 22.2 Innings Pitched, 4 ER's, 16 Hits Allowed, 26 strikeouts

Enough bullshit guys. The Red Sox are going to smash Pettitte around in this game, they are going to have some brilliance on the mound from Jon Lester and I am going to sit back, count my cash and enjoy making some serious money on some nice spot bets like this one.

Boston's pitching hasn't been the problem. They are on their longest scoreless streak since 1993.. No continuity in the lineup still trying to piece all the parts together. Pettite may be old but the Yankees bats are way hotter and playing at home as well. Can't see eye to eye with you on this one Flave.

"they have gone 18 innings without scoring"

24 innings w/o a run. You have to be crazy to lay a wager on them at their lowest point.

im ridin the yankees train as long as i can. They have the Red Sox number right now. Boston's bats aren't producing runs and i think 2 or 3 runs is all the yankees will need and I see them getting that without to much trouble. just my two cents bol

Make sure to avoid Andy Pettitte when he faces his bitter rivals, since the Red Sox light him up; they're batting .345 against him in 267 at-bats. Seven regulars hit over .300 against him, so there won't be very many easy outs. Since 13 of Pettitte's 16 home runs have been given up in the new Yankee Stadium, there's a risk that things could get a bit ugly.

Love the Sox tonight. Teams very rarely sweep a 4 game series, no matter how good they are. And this game is much more important to Boston. I'm sure desperation has already set in.

The only thing that scares me is the Sox are a horrible road team, but I think they get it done.
