From MLB Trade Rumors:

According to the New York Times' Tyler Kepner, the White Sox have acquired Alex Rios from the Blue Jays. The Blue Jays will receive nothing in return. Says Jays GM J.P. Ricciardi:

"This allows us to get out from under a contract and do more to address our club."

Being from Toronto, I'm kind of glad he's gone. It was obvious he didn't have the same passion as previous years and he's going to have a pretty big salary from here on.

Was he a disruption to the team chemistry or something?

Seems to be just a salary dump. With no one presumably to take on Wells' contract, Jays need to shed some $$$ for next year. Jays save $16 million next year by getting rid of Rolen and Rios.

Also, Travis Snider, who has 12 homers in last 40 games in AAA, will be the future right fielder to replace Rios.
