Bought a house and thinking about putting in hardwood. Any of you guys do it yourself, or what would you be charged to put it in by the square foot

Haha never did it myself but I had to pay a ton when I tried to fix the hardwood at a house I rented. The landlord told me not to do it myself but I figured I'd be okay and ended up staining certain spots a much darker brown than intended. Fuck my life.

Schlepp, we've received quotes in past six months from a couple qualified contractors to do our living room/dining room (about 400 sq ft) and both were a bit under 2.00 per sq ft for labor

That included pulling up and disposing existing carpet and doing a clean and treatment gimmick on the surface area prior to installing the wood.

We're yet to take action, but expect to in the next couple months.

Should be a real nice switch what with our two cats and one small dog.
