Can someone tell me why Tony Perez is in the HoF?

His stats are nothing special, never won a gold glove, never led the league in any offensive category with the exception of GIDP in 1980, never finished higher than 3rd in MVP voting, playoff offense was mediocre at best, etc.

Other than playing for the Big Red Machine, what justification is there for him to be in Cooperstown?

Not necessarily fair to guys like Dave Parker who have similar #s.
