CHICAGO WHITE SOX -114

Gio Gonzalez has been great in his last two starts for the A's, pitching 12 2/3 consecutive scoreless innings. However, his WHIP is still 1.74, which tells me that he is wild and inconsistent. This streak he's been on is likely variance from his actual stats. Likewise with Dan Haren last night, all streaking (good or bad) pitchers return to form at some point or another. In 18 innings pitched this year at home, Gonzalez has given up 18 earned runs, including 6 home runs. Gavin Floyd is an above AL-average pitcher who pitches strong against the A's historically (1-0, 1.35 ERA in 3 starts). The Sox are still in the midst of a wide open playoff race, and that should be motivation to win this game. Good luck to everyone!

YTD 4-6

LOS ANGELES ANGELS -160

The price has been going up on this one all day, and for good reason. The Angels are coming off getting pounded 16-6 at Baltimore last night. However, they are hot enough right now to still take this series after getting demolished in the first game. The fact that they are playing a sub-.500 team doesn't hurt either. John Lackey has arguably been LA's best pitcher as of late, winning 4 of his last 5 starts. His last decision against the O's came on July 2nd, when he pitched 8 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits and striking out 7 in a 5-2 Angels win. Brian Matusz is the future ace of the Orioles staff, but after 2 starts in the Majors, he has a little bit of work to do. His last start at Toronto, he only lasted 2 2/3 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs. Facing the Angels' offense today won't do much for his confidence either. Angels stay hot today, and beat a young, but talented young starter for the O's. Good luck to all!

2-0 day, last game for the night...

NEW YORK YANKEES -1.5 (+115)

It has been a great run for the Seattle Mariners this year. They were expected by very few to even field a competitive team night in and night out, but they have surpassed expectations by miles. However, the Yankees are the superior team. There's no doubt about that. The M's have been notorious in years past for folding to the Yankees in late-season situations. Sergio Mitre isn't the best option the Yanks could throw out there tonight, but Seattle's offense is going into one of those modes where it doesn't matter who's pitching, they will probably only be able to muster 2 or 3 runs regardless. I like Luke French a lot, and think he was a great upside, but he has not faced an offense as prolific as New York's. I love my M's, but I don't see them winning this game. I see a 7-4 type of game with the Yanks coming out on top. Goin' for the sweep today, BOL to everyone, as always! :toast:
