Is it actually possible that some people are making a living out of sports betting? I've heard about it, but I'm very skeptic. Is there anyone actually on these boards who actually makes a living out of sports betting? If so, how do you manage to do so?

Thanks

Dude, I can personally confirm I've made $8,000 since the beginning of July. I never took to gambling before except here and there.

Stop worrying. Winning 8 dimes is small for the books and you haven't even cashed out yet. You haven't won nearly enough for the books to even think about cutting your limits.

Wow that's nice, how much do you usually bet for one play? And where do you get your picks from? I actually paid a sports handicapper to help me with my picks, and now I'm down almost 2 grand with what I originally started, thanks to his picks. It really sucks :S

It's not a myth, it's possible but you're right about being sceptic. Definetely, it's not for everyone. Only the ones who have excellent control and discipline can make a living by this.

Let me tell you my story. It's my dream/goal to make a living by this. However, I don't consider myself as a "Professional" right now since I have a day-time job.

To reach my goal, I made a plan. My first goal was to reach 5k before April 2009. (for baseball) My bank was 4,500 when the April comes in. My target was to reach 20k in the end of baseball season..

In the end of May, my bankroll was 9,000.
In the end of June, I reached 16,000.
In the end of July, my bankroll was 22k.

My target for August was 30k.
Right now, my bankroll is 53,400.

I'm using 5 books right now.

I'm very close to my target but why I didn't dump my day job? Simple! I didn't make any withdrawals from my betting bank to pay for my living expenses, thanks to my day job! If you don't have a job, you will use your betting bankroll to spend for your living expenses as well. So don't quit your job before reaching 80-100k.

My goal is to reach 100k before next April. Just believe in yourself, have a plan and stick to it.

My Regular Bet Size is %2.
My bet size changes between %2-3-4.

But always %2-3-4 of 50k. Not 55 or 58. When I reached 60k, I will pick %2-3-4 of 60k.

When my bank was 1,000 I was placing %10.
I reduced it to %7. (bank 2000)
%5 (Bank 5,000-10,000)

I was about to ask the same, lol. If that's ok with you, of course :p

I'm so frustrated right now, I paid almost a grand for this capper and his MLB plays totally suck. Today, another losing day with 2 losses and no wins, and so far this month his plays have gone 18-24. That's horrible for the price I paid.

How much is he telling you to play per game?

Also why don't you go to the baseball board here. Don't buy picks from anyone.

What plays did you lose today?

Yeah, thanks to parlays. I know they are a suckers bet but I do pretty good with them. Like the parlay I hit yesterday for $4,000. I went through $500 on other parlays before I hit another one. I think eventually you will hit one if you keep it to two or three teams. Although the one yesterday was a 4 team parlay.
