1. Delaware's acting secretary of finance, Tom Cook, told USA TODAY on Thursday that the state would allow casinos to begin taking bets on all sports Sept. 1.

Although it has been known for months that Delaware planned to allow bets on NFL regular-season games, which begin Sept. 10, this is the first time a state official has said the state's three horse-track-based casinos would so quickly offer a full range of sports betting.

"Our plan is to offer a wide variety," Cook said Thursday. "I think this has a huge potential to create a lot of buzz."

The decision to allow betting on all sports from the outset will have a major impact on business, said Ed Sutor, CEO of Dover Downs Gaming and Entertainment, which has a Delaware casino. "Our biggest fear has been that if we didn't offer a full array of sports betting that it would create a bad first impression," he said.
Sutor said his company spent $5 million renovating its facility for sports betting. Cook said there would be about 75 sports-betting stations among the casinos.

There will be no difference between the sports and bets offered in Delaware and those available in Nevada, said Joe Asher, president and CEO of Brandywine Bookmaking, the company tapped by Delaware to provide odds in the state.

according to the Philadelphia Daily News
(I believe this is speculation by DICK JERARDI as an example of betting.)

say, you want to bet $100 on the Eagles, giving six points to the Redskins, you will have to give the teller $110. If you win, you will get $210 back. If you lose, you lost your bet, including that 10 percent. That 10 percent "vigorish," or "juice," is how so many bookmakers have made a living for so long. If the Eagles win by six, it is a "push" and there is no "winner" on that game. The bettor gets the $110 back.

Any info on sports betting in NJ

not much has changed here:

according to Suzette Parmley - Inquirer Staff Writer:

New Jersey State Sen. Ray Lesniak (D., Union) filed a federal lawsuit in March against the Justice Department, seeking to overturn the ban on sports betting in other states.

Last month, Gov. Corzine, acknowledging the fierce competition that Atlantic City now faces, said he supported legalizing sports betting in his state.

Both Lesniak and Corzine say the state could make as much as $100 million taxing winnings alone. Lesniak envisions sports books at the Atlantic City casinos, as well as at the state's racetracks and off-track betting parlors.

The U.S. senators claim both Delaware and New Jersey "threaten to greatly expand sports gambling and undermine the integrity of our national pastimes."

Gaming analysts and other states, including Pennsylvania, are also closely watching.

"Delaware is in a very competitive environment," said Michael Pollock, managing director of Spectrum Gaming Group L.L.C. of Linwood, N.J. "Sports betting is one thing Delaware can provide that other states can't, so it's trying to leverage that edge, which is completely understandable."
But Pollock was less sure of the effort in New Jersey.

"This legislation that grandfathered Delaware has been in place since the early '90s, and I think that a number of states, including New Jersey, would like to see something happen to level that playing field, in terms of letting them provide sports betting," he said. "But I just don't see that happening anytime soon."

It is for sure sept 1 bases the place looks great in dover

Dover is about 50 miles closer than Delaware Park( Christiana, Del) for me. But getting a room in Christiana (Red Roof Inn) used to be much easier.

What's the hotel-motel situation in Dover like?

What are the chances that a Fed(s) Judge don't let this start on Sept 1st?

Over or Under 20%?

I'd say about 5%. Delware has the same legal standing as Nevada, as they were grandfathered in to allow sportsbetting.

So no matter what people think of the law that NJ and other states are now fighting, Delaware is allowed.

There is no reason for a judge to hold it up, needs to be pretty clear that a ruling against sportsbetting will happen, for the judge to issue an injunction at this point, and the opposite is true.

This is going ahead.

At a 5% level (assumming you are correct); it just goes to show HOW MUCH MONEY in attorney fees these big companies are willing to waste.
And the funny part is --do they really believe what they say??
