that would be the WORST thing to happen to FLA right now..Some stats..We lost 50,000 residents in June (state). There were a total of 520 homes bought in South Florida (population over 5 Million) RECORD LOW and there are almost 30,000 vacant condos.. I can not imagine another bad hurricane. If no one owns the house who gives a crap about repairs..That would be a disaster. Not to mention our current insurance issues..

There's no question that the destruction wrought by Andrew in 1992 resulted in a construction and restoration boom worth literally billions over the next five to seven years.
That noted, it's a rough event to pray for, especially given how many property and casualty insurance companies have either left the state or remained and make it very difficult for folks to get proper reimbursement following a major 'cane.
