Does it feel weird or what?

When your wife or girlfriend is not working and you support them, then its christmas, your birthday or what ever, and they give you a gift, but then you know, its the money you gave them that bought the damn thing, its a little better when they work, I think.

What you people think?

Who cares, why should it bother you. My wife just went back to work after not working for 15 years, only because the kids are older now and she does not want to sit at home. If it is wife, you are supporting her, so what is the big deal?

I have no problem with the mate being at home, Im jsut commenting that it may seem a bit different if you know they didnt buy it from your own money.

Well its either they buy you something with your own money for your birthday or they by themselves something again.

no problem with it at all, its not about the money, its about the attention and care they show giving you a present

the whole 'give a present because its x,y,z official give a present date........' sucks

I see something I want to give as a present, I give it..thats it

That is why I never have anything to give on the 'officially designated......*give* days' because I ran out of ideas long before that.

gifts between wife-husband to me are silly because as you said it comes out of a common 'account'.......want to give me a present? Give me a nice backrub or cook me something special or something like that......I can't buy stuff like that at any store so its better to me anyway.
