Here's how I'm approaching the Winnipeg/BC game

Things are really in shambles in Winnipeg right nowand tonight reeks of "do or die" for the Bombers' chances of being even mediocre this year, not to mention Mike Kelly's future as a head coach. Nothing I've seen or read makes me think they have enough character to play well under those circumstances, but, still, there's a lot of uncertainty. Sometimes even lousy teams play much better than expected when their backs are against the wall.

So I'm going to do nothing right now. If Winny shows a backbone, I think their strengths match up well with BC's weaknesses, so I don't feel good about placing a pre-game wager on the Lions. But if the Bombers roll over -- which I about halfway expect them to -- I think there's a good chance it'll become clear in the first half, and clear the way for a 2H play on BC.

I'll just enjoy some nice leftover pizza and a couple of beers in the first half, and see how things shake out.

I just read that Winnipeg put Tarvaris Jackson on their negotiation list, by the way. I believe they're looking to corner the market on erratic quarterbacks.

In 7 games, Winnipeg tends to be a slow starter scoring more in later quarters. Whereas BC is more balanced.

No rolling over for Winnipeg. They're playing pretty darn good, in fact.

I'm going to take a chance that they stay sharp in the second half and make a play on them at +7.
