The Rangers are a 70win team in the middle of a 3-way wild card race and it's not like Sabathia or Burnett is going tonight. Chamberlain can implode at any given time and give the game to anyone. Millwood's ERA is nothing to sneeze at either.
Yes, I remember the run the Yankees had on their homestand right after the Allstar break, and playing in Yankee stadium is the only possible reason I see this thing hitting -200 at some places. I think Vegas realized squares would take the first opportunity to jump on a Yanks home game given that games played in the Bronx have been few and far between this past couple weeks. Also, add on the impressive outing the Yanks had on national tv on Sunday against the Sox and I think Vegas realized they could set the Yanks ML at whatever they wanted and it'll still be irresistable to the public.
Either way, Rangers at +170 seems like a really good value play to me. While I don't think the Rangers will win, I think their ML odds are good enough to find positive value in the play, which is basically all that really matters.
