These Italian-Americans are fighting hard ! My eldest step-daughter getting marrried ( about 26-7). Her younger sister may not go, grandmother may not attend, maybe not even my wife ( her mother), I don't go. if wife don't go, I don't approve of this marriage either ( but not my call).

These people LOVE to fight !

I don't really seek advice on this, Doug will just go with the flow, but it is really a Fucked up affair !

Younger SD has exchanged nasty emails with the groom, and I'm sure lots more stuff has gone down, that I'm not privy to.

The bridal shower was a disastor (sp ). I did not attend that, of course !

I'm seriously thinking about packing a pistol, if I attend this too big wedding party !

Will the wife's ex be invited also?

Sounds like a fun party, throw some alcohol in the mix and you have a hell of a party

So what are the odds we are going to see footage of this potential fiasco on the national news or at least youtube?

what are they fighting about

Money, mainly !

The invitations went out without my wife's name on them, that really touched it off.

At present ( I think it will go down this way), about 35-40 people will boycott the wedding because of it.... basically my wife's side of the family.

Wife wants me to take her to California during this time, to get away from it all. She's even considering moving far away from CT because of this.

They want a huge wedding, and everybody knows the marriage has no shot of success, at all !

The father of the bride ( my wife's ex), is paying some of the bill, but not all of it.

Her side of the family is totally against the wedding anyway.

Wife's father was a millionaire ( deceased now). When I married his daughter, we just went to Vegas... I never dreamed of asking "Poppy", to foot the bill, or have some 100k wedding, with 200+ guests.

Wife was opposed to her name being on the invitation? Her ex's name on the invitation?

names are fictional, here

my wife Andrea Catardi ( maiden name) married a Bobby Richitelli, had a daughter I'll call Lisa.

So this daughter is known as Lisa Richitelli ( her maiden name).

Lisa plans to marry Paul D'amico.

I'm Doug Jefferson, my wife is Andrea Jefferson.

My wife wants her name on the announcement of wedding.

It can't come out as Andrea & Bobby Richitelli announce the wedding of ..... ( since they are divorced).

It came out as Bobby Richitelli and Andrew D'amico ( father of groom), might have included Andrew's wife Peggy, I don't recall.

So ( perhaps):

Bobby Richitelli along with Andrew&Peggy D'amico announce the marriage of.......

My wife ( Andrea) wants her name in there. The Catardis feel the same way, and are not attending the wedding.

Huge Fucking mess !

I don't know wedding ettiquette, have nothing to say about it. I'm not Miss FUCKING Manners. All i know is wife ( I'm calling her Andrea, here), is really pissed off...that ain't good for Dougie ! :>(

These "Catardis", will probably not talk to the other Italians for many years, if ever again.

Huge rift.

I don't know who is right/wrong here.

If your wife (and you by default) are contributing $ to the wedding, then the name should be on the invitation. If not, then I guess it is the bride's choice (since we all know the groom has no say in anything).

Well, we are not paying towards this wedding, wife is against the wedding. The affair is too lavish. That ( I'm sure), is a big part of the problem, Artie.

Wife ( Andrea), hates the Groom, intensely. He hates her equally. So, it's quite mutual.

I have no idea, if Andrea's name belongs on the invitation, or not, under these circumstances.

It is a huge mess, for sure, and I think there is a 98% chance that the "Catardis" don't attend. There really is nobody on the "Jefferson" side, except me and wife.... a Catardi, really, so NONE of the invited wedding guests are because of me.

A little background on the groom? I'm intrigued.

This could be better than the return of Melrose Place.

He's sort of screwed up, He is about 26-27, has a young son about 6 y.o, from a non-marriage at about 19, I guess. No education or good job. He spends ALL his money on Beer, Pot, and his young son, sometimes works for cash for his father ( Andrew), last I knew he was selling pool chemicals at a store, but that season is pretty much over, here in CT.

Lisa ( my SD, the bride) is college educated, makes about 50k in the insurance industry here ( Hartford), but she's extended heavily with bills, mainly a 200k mortgage, and utilities. I'm sure she pays 90% + of that.

The kicker is her father ( Bobby), has been living in her basement for the last 9 months or so, he has a mediocre job, but like a true degenerate.... he blows his paycheck at OTB....stiffs Lisa on the supposed $500/month or so rent.

Bobby lucked out, somebody died and left him some money, so he kicked in maybe 15k towards the wedding, I'd bet he's flat broke now ! I think he basically mows the lawn, for the basement. No way this guy can hold onto any money, for anytime, ain't gonna happen !

So, there is significant baggage with "Basement Bobby", to help ruin this marriage, not that it needs much help !

ALIVER is correct. Only those who are paying for the wedding or the rehearsel dinner can reasonably be expected to have their names on the invitations.

DOUG, this could be your Golden Op to get rid of the ol' ball 'n chain

Take her up on the offer to "go far away" and then accidentally forget to ever come back.

The world could be your oyster, brother....It's a Big Big place outside of that Connecticut
