Haven't been, but I've done a lot of reading up on it, as it's been on list of Caribbean finalists for a couple of trips. I've read a lot of good things but also I've read some knocks about a lot of strolling vendors ont he beach and that it's not good for snorkeling.

Depends on what part of Puerto Rico you want to go too. Ponce is a nice little city but very dirty, Mayaguez I'd stay away from, Arecibo is amazing, so is the Bioluminescent Bay and El Yunque. Most of San Juan is shit but there are some decent casinos and a cockfighting arena if that;s your thing (wasn't mine). Barranquitas is nice if you are going inland.
if you are going Caribbean St Thomas is the place!! Puerto Rico, to me, is great for a port call on a cruise. I was not impressed. Meanwhile St Thomas is the only island/city that I was actually excited to go shopping in my entire life. Beautiful island, great shopping, wonderful beaches. To me, Virgin Islands is the place to go..
I have lived in SW Fl. FT Myers/Naples and Sfla FTL/ Miami. Beach and water (to me) is much better on the ocean side. Naples has nice beach and people are much nicer (since they are mostly from the midwest) but not as much nightlife and food variety. My suggestion is Siesta Key near Sarasota if you are doing FL..
