Worth seeing...

  1. Radio (2003) - 8.67 Based on a true story (like many othes). I enjoyed this movie very much.
Cuba Gooding Jr. played the part of James "Radio" Kennedy a mentally disabled local man who was adopted by Anderson SC's T.L. Hanna High School football team as a mascot/equipment manager. Originally discovered by coach Harold Jones (played by Ed Harris) Radio became very popular in the town of Anderson which led to a series of Anderson teams and coaches adopting James in real life and giving meaning to his life.

An excellent family movie made better by it's fine cast based on a Sports Illustrated Story written by Gary Smith which was an exerpt from his book about Radio and the people of Anderson called "Beyond The Game".

Offical Website of "Radio"..

The program. I remember seeing this in the theater. There is a scene when the kids lay in the middle of the middle of the street reading a Sports Illustrated article about themselves while traffic just whizzes past them. I heard this scene was cut from home release because kids actually tried laying in the middle of the road in traffic after seeing the movie.

The list should include "The Fortune Cookie" with Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. Jack Lemmon is a cameraman who gets nailed in an out of bounds hit during an NFL game. His lawyer brother inlaw (Matthau) tries to milk the accident for insurance money.

The film was directed by Billy Wilder and made 2 years before The Odd Couple.

"Crazylegs" embellishing the career of Elroy Hirsch at Wisconsin & the Rams was a good one. Way back in the 50's
