Need Help here, as I'm about to Buy a New Laptop...Either Today or Tomorrow.

I remember people saying that Vista Sucks or has Bugs.....Have they Fixed this ??

It's hard to find a Good Laptop that still has Windows XP, which I have on my PC and Current Laptop.

Just give me the Pros and Cons of Windows Vista

Thanks (<)<

You can find lots of Laptops with XP at Tigerdirect.com

If you go with Vista 4GB of memory is a must.

Vista
Pros: none Cons: it's Vista

I doubt you will find anyone that would prefer Vista over XP.

if you are buying a laptop now .........odds are that you will be able to upgrade to windows 7 for free (Whenever its released later this year)

I work with computer/servers 24/7 and have managed to avoid Vista........(just like I was able to avoid windows millenium which was the previous 'vista')

The few times I've had to interact with vista (my wife's laptop has it) .....I get annoyed with the gazillion 'are you sure sure that you want to do this?' and the counterintuitive wireless tools in the system tray......and well, many other things

Thanks Guys, kind of thought so about Vista.

and I know Wolfie is the Computer man around here, so I will stay far away from Vista

I did find a few XP Laptops, with an Upgrade of Windows 7 when it comes out. Big Plus is that Most of them are Toshiba, which is the one I have now.

Thanks for everyones Help :toast:

I like the parental controls on Vista. Off the top of my head, can't say I like anything else in Vista better than XP.

Lenovo Thinkpads are the best.

My mother has a Dell and it works really well.

I seem to read a lot of bad things about Toshibas.

Great information here.

For surfing, mail, work stuff, etc my XP is much better but the one we use for media stuff is so much easier to use with Vista. My laptop has Vista and does seem to have to work a little hard on that format. Unless your strictly a sound and video guy XP is prolly the way to go..

Same here. Laptop has Vista, PC has XP.

I actually like Vista better.

My wife and kids all use Apple and they love it. I don't think I can make the switch. I guess I am so used to Microsoft stuff that it will be to hard to switch. They swear by it. I liked XP better than Vista. We shall see the next Bill Gates version.

I mostly use Linux for basic desktop use nowdays, but when i boot Windows, it's Vista. They've fixed most of the early bugs and you can turn all those parenting controls off. Unless you have old and slow computer, Vista is superior IMHO.

XP looks and feels outdated.

Yes! FTW! I like Vista because it's new and fresh. XP feels old and dated. If you got the power, RUN VISTA.

I heard from a Friend who is an IT guy, and he told I should get Vista :think2:

Also something about when they come out with Windows 7, it will be easier to Upgrade from Vista.

So now I'm going to have to think about this for an extra couple of days.
Really wanted to buy the Laptop tomorrow, but I guess I can wait.

I bought a Compaq laptop from BestBuy about 5 or 6 months ago. 399$ 2.18ghz preloaded with Vista took it out of the box up and running on the net in 15 minutes, not one problem since. No lie. My dad has some extra memory laying around he said he would give me, I'm like NO STAY AWAY with that this thing works so good I don't want to screw with it.
