Went 0-2 yesterday, but looking at the lines for today, I have feeling this could be a nice day for us!

YTD: 17-15 (53%)

TORONTO BLUE JAYS -130

The Red Sox are playing good baseball right now, and the Jays aren't. The Sox have taken the first two in this series, and they are beginning to create some space for themselves in the AL Wild-card race. They have a HUGE series coming up this week with the Rays that could make things very interesting in that race. Knowing this, the Sox have moved Jon Lester's start from today to Tuesday, the opener of that Tampa series. Taking Lester's place on the mound today...Paul Byrd, who was retired when this month began, and hasn't pitched in a major league game since last year. Coincidently, Byrd's last decision in the big leagues was an 8-1 loss to Toronto at Fenway Park. The Jays send Cy Young-hopeful Roy Halladay to the mound, and he is looking to break a 2-game losing skid. The Rays pounded him in his last start, but he is the type of pitcher that can only stay down for so long before he becomes dominant again. He has actually been better on the road this year than at home (5-2, 2.63 ERA). The Jays aren't playing for much at this point in the season, but athletes are competitors, and you know that they don't want to get swept by their division rival, especially with their ace on the mound. This may be a case where the Red Sox could be looking forward a bit to a critical series with a contending rival within their own division. Maybe they rest some players today to prepare themselves for Tampa Bay. Either way, I like the Jays a lot in this situation, and I think that there is a lot of value in this line. BOL to all!

SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS -134

The Giants have a chance to tie the Rockies today for the NL Wild-Card lead. Matt Cain has been exceptional for the Giants this season, and against the Rockies he's 2-1 with a 2.84 ERA, including winning his last two starts against them. The Giants have won 4 of their last 5 and the Rockies have lost 4 straight, allowing the Giants to creep back up into this race after being down 4 games not even a week ago. Jason Hammel has pitched well for the Rockies also, especially lately. However, the Rockies have lost both games he has started against San Fran this year. The Giants have a superb record at home this year (43-21) and have won 4 out of the 5 games they have played against Colorado there this season. With the Rockies scuffling a bit, the Giants see this as a prime opportunity to take a share of the Wild-Card lead back. With Cain on the mound, their odds look very favorable. I'll take the Giants for the sweep today. BOL!
