CHICAGO WHITE SOX -103

Neither of these teams are quite out of the race in the AL-Central, but I feel like the White Sox need to make a statement on the road in this series. They need to play with a sense of urgency, starting tonight. They are going up against a struggling pitcher for the Twins in Nick Blackburn who had a decent start to the year, but has recently lost his last 5 decisions. He has put up horrific numbers since the All-Star break, going 0-5 with an 8.22 ERA and a 1.96 WHIP! Furthermore during that time, the Twins have lost 7 out of the 8 games he has started. The White Sox have not been playing great ball themselves, losing 7 of their last 8. But if you look closer, their last six games were at Boston and at New York, two of the more hostile environments you will find in the Major Leagues. Not many teams could go into those two places consecutively and come out with many wins. Even though they are 1-9 in their last 10 at the Metrodome, I think that just leaving Yankee Stadium will be a breath of fresh air for this team. Gavin Floyd has been one of their most consistent starters all year, and I think he gets the Sox off their slide tonight. BOL everyone, and I will have one more a little bit later.

LOS ANGELES ANGELS -1.5 (+110)

Joe Saunders pitched well in his first start back from the DL, striking out 6 in 5 innings of a 4-2 victory over Detroit. Tonight should be another solid start for him as he is going up against a team that he absolutely owns. Saunders is 6-1 lifetime vs. Seattle with a 3.60 ERA in 9 starts. The Angels have won all 5 of Saunders last 5 starts against the M's, with Saunders picking up the win in 4 of those starts. The Angels actually play the M's better at Safeco Field, as they have won 3 out of 4 meetings there this year, as opposed to 2-4 against the M's at home. Luke French is making his first start against the Angels tonight, and he is going to need some help. It's going to be tough though, as Ichiro and Russell Branyan are out of the lineup again tonight. In fact, looking at the M's order tonight, many of their starters tonight were in Triple-A at one point this season. That won't make French's job any easier, and although he has pitched well for Seattle, he hasn't faced this potent Angels lineup yet this year. I like the Angels tonight. BOL to all!
