Thomes power would be offset by the extra runs his poor defense would give up. That would be sweet if they could combine them into one person tho..

Spin:
Thome has played first base four times in the last four years, so we're not quite sure yet what this means for James Loney, but it's probably not the best of news.

ya i think they were both very good moves for the dodgers. they needed another starter as they've finally fixed most of there bulpen problems(as i say this mcdonald gives up a homer). and garland is going to be a good 4 or 5 guy pitching in a pitchers park. and lets be honest the dodgers needed another bat. loney is a good player but a very poor offensive 1st baseman. so wether they bench loney of use thome as a dh guy, its a good move. but as a dodgers fan i really hope they dont start relying on the long ball for all of their run support when youve got speed guys like furcal, hudson, and pierre on the team.

as a dodger fan couldn't agree with u more about not forgetting the team speed....but can u please...please...tell me y mcdonald is still on the big league team...he just hasn't panned out like they thought he would...everytime he is in the game....i can't watch. i know how the game is gonna go when he gets on the mound...furthermore....how does guillermo mota still have a job?:think2:

ya mcdonald scares me, but hes young and there trying to get him some experience. and to see how big his balls are before playoff time. but as a whole they do have a very good bulpen with the addition to sherill, not deep but pretty good.

although i think this was a very good move by the dodgers, i think they missed the boat to become possible world series favorites (or atleast way up there) before lee and martinez were traded from cleveland the dodgers were in the running for both. and i think they should have tried a little harder to get them. if they got rid of loney, possibly martin, and a few prospects(dodgers have some very good minor league prospects). that would of allowed them to have another every day speed guy with pierre in the outfield, move eithier to first, which isnt to much to ask. and by adding martinez they would have added an everyday bat with experience, instead of thome who will only get one at bat a game. not to mention lee who is a complete stud, giving the dodgers one of the best 4 men rotations in the league (lee, kershaw, billingsly, wolf). shit i could pitch in the 5 spot behind those four and the dodgers would still win.

just my two cents, but guess its to late
