OT- Internet Explorer problem

I keep getting this message that says "Internet Explorer has stopped working".

It is a small box that pops up on my screen that says it has stopped working and will shut down.

The thing is, it never does actually shut down, and seconds later I am able to continue surfing the same pages I had been surfing before without an issue.

Then in the bottom right hand corner I get a message that says "Internet explorer has shut down". Again, thing is it never actually has shut down.

anyone got an idea?

Need to which IE version ?
you probably need to run the updates .. probably outdated hotfix's.

Here is the thing, I recently reformatted computer back to original factory settings, coz I was having this problem among others.

I use AVG virus protection since day 1.

My IE version is 8.0.6001.18813.

As mentioned, my IE doesnt even actually stop working, nor does it shut down, but my PC tells me that it has stopped working and that it has shut down, that is what the weird thing is. It does sort of freeze up or slow down a touch when it happens but thats it.

Try going to Tools-->Options-->Advanced Tab--> Reset button under Reset Internet Explorer Settings.

See if that works.

Also I've heard of people having this issue when they have a software titled Omnipage.

Let me know what happens after the reset.

Ahhh .. IE 8.

Sir .. you are not alone here.
I have seen this before , As I suspect it's a Microsoft bug.
I suspect a conflict in either an Add-on / Filter / or Accererator.

Since IE 8 is "new" ,, I suspect the bugs haven't been worked out fully, expect an 8.1 ver out soon.

As I also on occasion,get the "dreaded-box-of-failure",it is minimal and a rare,,so I live with it.
If your updates a current ,, and the IE does respond in a few seconds,
you may want to live with it,,,until a hotfix or patch comes available.

you can also re-download IE 8 again ,, to try to repair.

Even the best IE versions are still buggy. Think about Firefox.

hit the PrtSc button,open the windows Paint program ( usually in the accessories area on the start menu) and hit Control V to paste it or go to the top and using the dropdown menu under Edit go to paste and click it

I quit IE a long time ago. Try Firefox or Opera and don't look back.

problem is most people use IE, and in my job I need to see what they are seeing when they view the website, I do use firefox also from time to time, but cannot completely eliminate IE
