DirectTV dumps Versus

Also Tuesday, DirecTV dropped Comcast's Versus network as the two remained at an impasse on a new carriage agreement. The move drops Versus' distribution by about 14 million households to about 61.5 million homes.
DirecTV said in a statement that Comcast was “simply piggish” in seeking a rate hike it described as totaling more than 20 percent “for what is basically a paid programming and infomercial channel with occasional sporting events.” Comcast said it has asked DirecTV “to carry Versus at a comparable level of distribution as it does today at the same market price that other operators are paying.”
The DirecTV decision could affect University of Texas fans, since Comcast will carry the Longhorns' game against Wyoming on Sept. 12.

I was just about to cancel DirecTv for Vz FIOS ... maybe I'lll use the 'I just can't live without watching old farts fishing' excuse now when they harass me to stay.

Let's hear what kind of deals they are giving people that call to complain. Would rather get the channel than have to call up for credits off my bill.

A lot of NHL playoff and even Cup finals games were exclusively on Versus. NHL and their fans definitely lose the most here

fuck direct tv..

outside of nfl ticket , they are useless.

and even if you have the ticket like i use too , you need 3 or 4 tvs in 1 room ( like i use too) to make it worth it.

Guys, I emailed Directv to complain. They "gave" me three free months of the Starz channel. Now that doesn't help me watch college football but my wife sure is happy. Hope they resolve the dispute with Comcast soon.

For the record. Having Directv is awesome and the naysayers don't know what they are talking about. I get virtually every college football game. I don't have to look in the TV guide or the sports section to see if the game I want to watch is on. It is almost always on.
