This is not Microsoft Office (no Excel or Outlook).

FYI, Word 2010 is coming out in early 2010. Not sure if you can hold off until then.

I take it back, it does include Excel. Just realized you have no CD.

You can download it from Microsoft with a 60 day free trial and then pay $149.99.

If you have a student at home with a .edu e-mail adderess, you can dowload it for $59.99
from Microsoft

If you're a mormon or against downloading programs, you should just use this. It's the lite version of office that runs on smaller and free programs. Compatible with word, excell, etc.

Can vouch for this as well - I dont use Word/Excel enough to be worth shelling out for it, so gave this a try and it works fine.

Also, as mentioned, the files are compatible with Word/Excel both ways as I have opened spreads in both formats...

OpenOffice is fully compatible with all MS Office applications. I've been using it for three years now and just upgraded to their latest version (free open source).

Now be aware that while you can read any MS Office application using OpenOffice, you cannot send a saved OpenOffice file to someone with MS Office.

What you have to do is use the "Save As" function (in OpenOffice) and create a separate version of the file which is formatted for MS Office. You can then use that separate version to share with someone who has MS Office

or you can just set open office to default to Microsoft formats..

Another option is to use a flash drive and image an office cd with a cd burning program to it then download the free app "daemon tools" on your mini pc to mount the cd image as a virtual drive and install it..
