Core2 Q9650 versus Core i7-950

Intel® Core™2 Q9650 (12MB,3.0GHz, 1333FSB)
versus
Intel® Core™ i7-950 Processor(8MB L2 Cache, 3.06GHz)

I know Core™ i7-950 is newer and faster but is it alot faster?

Which one would you rather buy if Q9650 system was 200 bucks less and had the liquid cooling system?
Everything else is the same, memory, hard drive, video card,...

I just faced this decision. Bought the i7. I figure it's worth it because it is a computer that will last longer - it's better fit for future technology with the DDR3 RAM and the socket 1366 motherboard.

Look on Dell Outlet for deals on i7 computers. I scored one for $550 + a 15% off coupon. That is unless you are REALLY geeky and plan on overclocking.
