LT and probable first team all-american BRYAN BULAGA will miss this weeks game to a potentially career ending thyroid/heart condition...........more will be known on his overall health in a few days.

Right now he is slated to be back in the lineup against Arizona the following week.....let's hope he is healthy, for life, not just football.

This just hit the wire a few hours ago.

The game has moved from -6.5 to -6 .................

rCoach Ferentz's brief statement a couple hours ago...............

Bryan Bulaga was hospitalized with an illness this past week and will not be available to play tomorrow,” said Ferentz. “Bryan is doing much better, has been released and will accompany the team this weekend. We expect Bryan to return to his normal activities soon

On a positive note on the injury front(something rare for the Hawkeyes in the past three weeks), offensive lineman Vandervelde and Calloway will both be playing this Saturday...........if not, they would have no LESS than four offensive lineman out for this game.

These injuries along with losing their #1 running back and starting cornerback have made times tough for the Hawkeyes..........who were optimistic on having a very fine season this year. To accomplish an 8+ win season now is going to take a tremendous effort, from the coaching staff down to the many freshman that will be seeing significant playing time.

VERY TRUE!

However, keep two things in mind...........

1. Iowa does have two outstanding OL back this week that didn't play against UNI.

2. The UNI DL may actually be better than that of the Cyclones.

Yeah but Omeara and Robinson are garbage...losing Hampton is gonna hurt ALOT this year...Stanzi is gonna be forced to make plays and he is not the player to do that.

Rhoades running the no huddle spread gives Iowa problems...dbacks look horrible...

Should be a good game. I am excited. Its gonna be electric in Ames.

Somewhat agree with you............

Not sure if red-shirt freshman BRINSON is going to get any touches this game or not, and WEGHER is still hobbled by a bad ankle............so the running game is in deep dissarray.

The Iowa secondary should be decent, as they were very good last season and only lose Bernsteen to the injury........SPIVEY is an absolute stud at the other corner and if there is one person other than Stanzi this club cannot affored to lose, it would be him.

#2 -- very true...entire defense is, i believe. (did you notice abdul hodge's brother?)

as far as Iowa's secondary....Spievey is one of the top corners in the nation. Absolute stud!
.
To say that Iowa defensive coordinator Norm Parker has coached his share of outstanding players is an understatement. At a press conference Tuesday, Parker said Spievey has a chance to be one of top cornerbacks in 10 years he has been a Hawkeye.
"I think Spievey -- since we've been here -- can be the best corner we've ever had," Parker said. "Last year was a real pleasant surprise and he's only gotten better. He's picking it up mentally and attitude-wise. I think he's going to be really good."

did you even watch the game?

1st possession - 3 plays, 5 yards
2nd possession - 11 plays, -4 yards
3rd - 2 blocked FGs, 69 yards on underneath passing.

3 possessions before that in 3rd quarter were all less than 10 yards too. 2 negative and 1 of 8 yards.

Remember what Ferentz did last year? He took a NEEDLESS Safety to allow ISU to cover at the end [5-17 (+13.5)]. Raised quite a few eyebrows. It seems Iowa never covers in this Series.

I should clarify..I meant the last drive...and FYI..you don't let a team drive 69 yards AT WILL to set up a game winning FG..FACT IS Iowa couldnt stop them.

"underneath passing"..mmm hmmm...LMFAO..typical Iowa fan

You are a moron if you believe Iowa was in a prevent D and let Uni just drive down the field...

Like I said that last drive they drove down AT WILL.

i don't think i need to repeat what i said.....here's how bad iowa safeties and corners were.....:howdy:

ISU QB - #4 - Arnaud: 10-22 (45%), 79 pass yds, 4 INTs, Rating: 39.25
.
Iowa S - #30 - Greenwood: 2 INTs
Iowa S - #9 - Sash: 3 INTs, 1 Forced Fumble, 10 tackles - i'll go ahead and give him Big 10 Defensive player of the week honors.

Easy Money!!:drink::)<<
