Honestly...get out of the house people. Carpe diem.

Example.... big game tommorrow and people would rather sit at home, instead of going somewhere to enjoy and be around the atmosphere...

Maybe they tell you that cause they don't want to be around you.....just a thought

I used to enjoy it in my 20's. I really don't like to be around people when I bet unless they are fellow gamblers.

it takes all types of people for the world to go around, but I do agree....

being at home 24 hours a day 7 days a week in front of a computer screen or a TV is not healthy....

need to get out and about for exercise, fresh air, and just to stay sane frankly.

But people that are 30 without families you would think would want to..
If I lived in Vegas I would probably have a blast hanging out at the SB on weekends.

I had fun last night betting the game and using the in game thread in the RX NFL forum, almost feels like you are actually with those guys.

I went out last night, I'm in my twenties. Apparently the guy i was standing behind must've just got outta the joint because he didn't like me behind him. Told me to move, it was a big bar I told him tough shit.. about 35 seconds later, after removing the gentleman's hand from my shirt and placing him on the table, and just barely getting missed getting hit by a bottle in the head (bouncer moved in to break it up and he took a shot inteneded for me, he got blasted) the scuffle ensued. cops came and I missed fucking overtime.. I didn't get any of my blood on my Big Ben jersey but just a side note, if I would've stayed home or went to a friends place I would've been able to watch the game in its entirety, not had someone elses blood on my jersey or the neck stretched out and wouldn't have been detained for over thirty minutes and telling the cops I didn't see anything that I had been drinking and everything is blurry.

my response to getting out more.. go out, just don't get into arguments with two six gangbangers at a bar while wearing Pittsburgh jerseys, because you won't get to see the game go into overtime

Which game? Can't leave to go to Ohio. God I wish I was there tho. However I do have the flight and tix purchased for the Notre Dame game. Can't wait to watch my Trojans knock the snot out of the Irish for another year.

Yeah when I was a kid we played till the street lights came on.
As a teenager went cruising and boozing.
As adolescent went to work, drank in the parking lot after work and then went to the bar all ready buzzed and when the bar closed it was hoover time.

Chicks were probably a lot easier back then?

Then came marriage and then the world wide net.

Now it's beer the ole lady and therx.

The 10 year old plays COD? I'm proud. He would probably whip my ass that's the sad part.

I turned down free tickets to the Boise State/Oregon game to watch it at home.

Reasons

A) better view/replays
B) no beer allowed at the stadium, all the beer I want at home
C) I can piss and get back in time not to miss anything
D) Much harder to play poker at halftime at the stadium
E) No dealing with traffic
F) Comfortable recliner versus steel bench

I could really go on and on.

G) Girls can stop by and give head wop without being fined.
H) Can change channels during timeouts
I) You aren't confined to some small space.
J) Easier to keep your eye on other games

You are right Jake, you could go on and on!

Simmons summed it up nice

Prediction VI: Blackouts of home games will become the signature media story of the 2009 season. You'll hear way too much about it. Here's my take: This isn't about the economy. It's about the fact that it's more fun to stay home and watch football than it is to sit in crappy seats to watch any team ranging from "lousy" to "mediocre." It just is. For many fan bases, here are the two choices every Sunday:

Door No. 1 (more expensive): Traffic, parking, long walk to stadium, lousy seats, lifeless state-of-the-art arena, TV timeouts, dead crowds, drunk/bitter fans, more TV timeouts, hiked-up concession prices, PDAs with jammed signals as you're searching for scores, even more TV timeouts, long walk to car, even more traffic.

Door No. 2 (less expensive): Sofa, NFL package, HD, fantasy scores online, remote control toggling, gambling, access to scores, seven straight hours of football, cell phone calls, beer and food in fridge, no traffic.

I can see going through Door No. 1 once a year just to remind yourself that going to an NFL game sucks. But eight times a year? Unless you had good seats, or unless this was your only excuse to get out of your house and get plastered, why would you? It's a blue-collar sport with white-collar ticket prices. This blackout trend would have happened whether the economy was suffering or not.
