Notre Dame vs Michigan odds haven't been a big play over the last couple of years, as these storied programs have fallen behind other powers like Florida, Texas and USC. The two will meet at Michigan's "Big House" on Saturday afternoon, and the No.18 Fighting Irish have high expectations in 2009. A win over an improved Michigan team would be a statement.
Notre Dame vs Michigan odds - Saturday, September 12, 3:30 PM ET

The Irish rolled to a 35-0 shutout of Nevada in their opening game, and Jimmy Clausen was nearly perfect, going 15-of-18 for 315 yards and four touchdowns. Three of those scores went to Michael Floyd, who caught four balls for 189 yards. The defense forced three turnovers, but they also allowed 153 yards on the ground, which would hurt them against a better team.

The Michigan offense should some life in a 31-7 win over Western Michigan, as they racked up 439 yards, including 242 on the ground. Tate Forcier made his college debut and looked solid, going 13-of-20 for 179 yards and three touchdowns, while Denard Robinson led a deep ground game. The Wolverines forced three turnovers and held Western Michigan to only 38 rushing yards, but they took their foot off the gas in the fourth quarter, giving up a 73-yard touchdown pass. Mental lapses is how a team falls down the ranks in your offshore sportsbook.

Betting services have the Irish as a 3-point favorite on the road at the "Big House", where they've lost four of their last five visits. These two have 22 national championships between them, but times have been tough in Ann Arbor and South Bend in recent years. Also, Notre Dame coach Charlie Weis and Michigan counterpart Rich Rodriguez are on the hot seat this year, and a win over their longtime rivals will quiet the critics for a minute. The Irish are more experienced, and look ready to turn the corner, while the Wolverines still have a little ways to go. Look for Clausen to pick the Wolverines' secondary apart, and take Notre Dame in your sports picks this weekend.
