2 charged with cheating at casino

Associated Press
September 14, 2009
ASHFORD, Conn.
Police have charged a Norwich woman who works at a table games dealer at the Mohegan Sun casino with cheating, larceny and conspiracy for what they're calling a cheating scam.

Forty-year-old Peggy Lin was arrested on Saturday. Police accuse her of manipulating a deal of a pai gow tile game so that another player could win the hand.

The person who won, 43-year-old Bi De Zhen of New York, was also charged with cheating, larceny and conspiracy to commit larceny.

They are scheduled to appear in Norwich Superior Court on Oct. 1.

A Baton Rouge man caught cheating at the Hollywood Casino Baton Rouge on Wednesday morning got belligerent with officers when they confronted him, according to a Louisiana State Police report.
The man, 29-year-old J'Colby Johnson, was playing at the craps table around 7:30 a.m. Wednesday when surveillance saw him cheat twice, according to the report.

Officials say Johnson was "past posting," meaning he placed a bet after the roll of the dice.
Police allowed him to cash out his remaining chips and led him to an interview room, but Johnson refused to enter before becoming belligerent and combative, the report says.

While Johnson was being booked into Parish Prison, officers say they found what is believed to be marijuana in a cigarette pack inside a money bag.
Johnson, of 4550 Sycamore, Apt. A, Baton Rouge, was booked on cheating and swindling, resisting arrest, public intimidation and retaliation, and bringing controlled dangerous substances into a penal institution.
