For me only two ( regularly) a month:

to pay the condo association fees

and to pay off my VISA card. They charge like $15 to pay electronically ( B of A).

Everything else is done online or by phone.

A batch of 200 checks, is now an 8 year supply.

Not good times for check printing companies ?

I don't mail either one. I drop the condo check at the treasurer's unit, and drop the VISA payment at a BofA branch, when passing one.

This really hurts USPS. I do get the bills in the mail, not autopay....I want to see what they bill me, before I pay it.

rent/condo fees/property taxes, maybe a DL renewal are decent check options, but not utility bills.

just not having to write the check ( and saving 44 cents postage), are enough motivation for me, then you'd have to find a mailbox, also.

Only little old ladies write checks, routinely.

What's a check?

Grocery Stores should have a special checkout lane for those women who still pay with a check which is in their purse at the bottom of their bag, which they wait to dig out after the cashier has rung up the entire load of groceries. These women should at least have the check ready, filled out except for the amount. When I get stuck behind one of them I make sure to wave my debit card so they can see it, and under my breath say checks have gone the way of the dinosaur.

Guess I need to join the 21st century, I still pay by check and snail mail, not too many; CC I charge on, the one my wife uses, lights, water and maybe a couple of others.

I like to mail them one at a time, everyday, that way when the flag is down I know the postman has run his route.

stuff like utility bills should be payable over the telephone, at no fee, or online....call their phone #, give routing and account numbers, done quickly.
