The Cubs have suspended disgruntled outfielder Milton Bradley for the remainder of the season, general manager Jim Hendry announced on Sunday.

Bradley took shots at the organization in a Saturday interview with the Daily Herald of Arlington Heights, Ill., saying that Chicago is "not a positive environment" and that he can understand why the Cubs haven't won in 100 years.

On Thursday, Bradley took himself out of the game after getting a hit, without a pinch-runner ready, and said afterward that he had knee inflammation.

Bradley is not with the team as it gets ready to play the division-leading Cardinals on Sunday at 7:05 p.m. CT. The 31-year-old switch-hitter -- signed to a three-year, $30 million contract this offseason -- hit .257 with 12 home runs and 40 RBIs in 124 games this year.

Might just be the biggest douchebag in sports today, and that's saying a lot. Be interesting to see who will take a shot on him. No way he can come back to the Cubs. He is still a good hitter and could maybe help somebody in a small market where nobody is talking about him.

i'd take him in a heartbeat, as long as the dumbass cubs pay that salary for the next 2 yrs. i'll take soriano too, as long as the cubs pay. the cubs have really dug themselves a deep, deep hole for themselves. blame the gm and pinella. if bradley is let go, somebody will pick him up.

Was it the racist cubs fans this time that drove him to speak out

You want no part of him. Don't blame Piniella here, he wanted Ibanez.

Oh yeah, someone will take a chance. He can hit. He needs to be in a small market atmosphere though, preferably in the AL, on a team with low expectations. Royals or Blue Jays comes to mind. Or he'll go back to the Rangers. That is unless his meltdown gets worse. This guy has has serious head issues. Hendry believed people with the Rangers who told him that he was really a good guy, just misunderstood.

When Milton played for the A's a few seasons he was put on the disabled list for a bad shoulder.

There was a strong rumor that he hurt it fighting with a teammate in the locker room.

You can have Bradley and we will pay 75% of the salary. You can have Kevin Gregg as well. Soriano isn't going anywhere.

does he really care ?

I think a lot of players care a lot more about getting paid the big bucks, than winning championships, at least on your 1st big contract.... I probably would want that 1st 20M guaranteed contract before all else ( if a ballplayer), then want the ring as a journeyman player.

Sorta get yourself set for life 1st, then worry about actually winning, or making the HOF.

I bet many players think this way ?

The Cubs have no one to blame for this but themselves...

They gave up a great team guy who can play multiple positions in DeRosa for a noted head case who has been a pain in the @ss everywhere he's ever been.

I don't think it took a rocket scientist to figure out that with his history, Bradley/Lou was a molotov cocktail waiting to happen.

So, while I'll give you that Bradley is a PIA. To paraphrase the immortal words of Denny Green: "He is who we thought he was."

And the Cubs have no one to blame but themselves...

As a life long Cubs fan I feel that I have the right to tell the world what our problem is:

WE ARE IDIOTS!

Pay millions for guys that are old and washed up or have no heart and let the guys like DeRosa go who do everything you ever ask and even win! I figure we'll eventually get Jeter and ARod and pay them about $30 mill a year but that won't be for another 15 years when they are worthless. When the playoffs start, teams will win with defense, pitching and manufacturing runs. The Cubs build their team on home runs, NEVER steal a base, and hope your closer (like we ever have a lead in the playoffs) can throw a strike! Nice. It is and has been football season at our house for a month.
