6o, 70, 80 k etc ?

got 60k with original tires, rotated at 15k intervals ( had to pay for it, about $20 a shot, 3 times).

60k on tires seems good ? Next set was from Midas, they rotate free, and are nearby, still pricey for 17" tires, like $700+ a set.

How about breaks starting new ?

2007 Honda CR-V, BTW !

That SUV has bigger tires than a 4X4 stock F-150 ( 16").

Depends entirely on what type of pad (organic or semi-metallic), and driving habits. I know people who have to replace their brake pads every 5000 or so miles. These people tend to wait til the last minute to apply their brakes when approaching stop signs and such, and use organic pads. I generally can get in excess of 50,000 miles from mine. I tend to use down-shifting as a braking aid, and use only semi-metallic pads.

it depends also on how rough you are on the breaks, city driving, what type of break pads etc but i would say around the 5k miles check them out.

does your warranty cover any maintenance?

wife's car, she drives it 90% + of the time. About 80k on it, now ! I drove it yesterday, starting to just barely sense a noise starting, so it's time. She's hard on brakes too....hits brakes for no reason....I'm surprised it has gone this long w/o a brakejob.

I don't brake for unnecessary Shit, probably get 100k out of brakes !

She brakes a mile ahead if a cop has somebody pulled over on the highway.

50k, I presume you mean ?

I just hadt he front brakes on my2000 F-150 done recently, at about 110k. I think they were original ?

Truck rode like 80k miles ( had to be highway), in two years, then the next owner drove it little, and I drive it when needed....so I think you can get 100k+ miles out of brakes, under proper conditions. rear brakes are probably original with 115k on them.

brakes aren't typically covered after 2-3 years and 80k miles.

Its funny you should bring this up. Last week I had to fork out money because my break pads were worn down so much they tore into the rotors. I was pissed to say the least, but there was no one to blame but myself.

machining the rotors is pretty standard, those $89 brake jobs are always $300 + anyways.

Nobody gets out for $89

Average City Driving....

Front Breaks......25,000 Rear Brakes.......40,000

Average Highway or Country Driving....

Front Breaks.....40,000 Rear Brakes......60,000

Just averages.......most important factors......how you drive, how worn the front end parts are, and believe it or not...how good or bad the roads are.

city driving, you brake often, highway you can go hundreds of miles w/o touching brakes

Well I had the radiator flushed and filled today ( $48 coupon special).

Found a local mechanic I trust, Older white guy. I asked him to take a look at the brakes. He said pads have 25-30% left ( with 82k miles), should go 100k.

I almost can't believe it personally.

That's what his numbers show. You get less miles for city. I think those of you claiming 80-100K are either driving a lot of highway miles or are driving on some crappy brakes.

I'd certainly say many people neglect brakes, until they get the metal to metal grinding noise...then need new rotors.

Replacing pads at 60K seems reasonable enough to me ( to save rotors).

Remember front brakes are the most important, ( like 75% of the stopping power).

Midas said my rear ( probably original ?) truck brakes were still good with 115k on them, but replaced the front ones. I know this truck was highway driven hard for two years ( 40k a year) , then like 3-4 k a year since about 2003.

Dude ( old guy) I bought it from liked his Mustang ( all kinds of Mustang decals on this truck's rear window), they look OK, so still there. Only drove it in the CT winters, when he didn't want to take the Stang out. All documented by title and shit. Dude owned the truck for 6 years or so, put 20k miles on it. Moved to Fla, sold me the 4X4 F-150 for $4800, off CL.

Not a dent in the truck, needed some neglected maintenance for about $500...a brake job since.

Should go 200k+ without too much more.

That's what you want to buy....something like this for 5k ...if you want a utility truck, same for a car !
