How did Stafon Johnson get injury?

"A weight bar slipped out of Johnson’s hands and landed on his throat as he began the final set of lifts Monday.
"(A) most unfortunate accident, it was an absolute accident," Carroll said. "It just hit him wrong and he’s had obvious consequences."

I have read a few articles but none have any specifics. I heard somewhere Johnson simply failed to put the bar back on the resting studs properly. Mind you this happened with an assistant strength coach spotting him.

That hand slip story is garbage. Anyone who has done the bench press knows the bar is not in a position to slip under normal lifting motion. The only practical way the bar could slip is when returning it to resting position. A time when everyone needs to be paying attention that the bar gets seated properly.

Either the strength coach gets canned or Johnson just failed weight lifting 101.

I agree with you when saying the bar doesn't just slip. I've been lifting for years and the bar has never come close to slipping.

However, just because you have a "spotter" doesn't mean you really have a spotter. If 275 is easy for Johnson the guy may have been just standing near Johnson. I mean really, who just drops weight on their throat? It's an accident that happened and nobody should be fired.

remember the USC kicker that died and left a lot of unanswered questions. perhaps Johnson knows too much about USC and the cheating.

his message he sent out today was odd too, something like "once a trojan always a trojan" umm who the hell questioned his loyalty??

way out there ill admit, i just want to see USC get the death penalty someday. its a long term goal of mine.

I'm thinking he presses like I do with thumbs behind the bar instead of thumbs around the bar. I think you generate more power and there is less stress on the thumbs. But its very dangerous.

It's actually called a suicide grip for a reason I guess.

I guess this guy can lift but has trouble forming complete sentences. All the guy had to do was say "hey, I may need a little help with this as it is the max I can attempt to lift." But big egos won't allow for that.
