This is a very disturbing and frankly distressing story

The former exec from the cryonics facility where Teddy Ballgame's body was frozen spent the last three months of his employ wearing a wire and hidden camera while he detailed horrific and obscene behaviors of company management and employees.

He's been in hiding for months and is now releasing this information in his upcoming book release

Ted Williams' Severed Head Abused In Cryonics Facility: Former Exec

NEW YORK — The New York Daily News is reporting that Red Sox Hall of Famer Ted Williams' severed head was mistreated at an Arizona cryonics facility, according to details from a new book.
In "Frozen," Larry Johnson, a former executive at the Alcor Life Extension Foundation in Scottsdale, Ariz., writes that Williams' head, which had been severed and frozen for storage, was abused at the facility. Johnson claims a technician took baseball-like swings at Williams' frozen head with a monkey wrench.
Williams, the last player to hit over .400 in a season, died in 2002 at age 83 and had his remains sent to Alcor for cryogenic storage in the hope that future generations would develop the technology to revive him.

I read this article this morning and found it sickening. Not just because it was Ted Williams but simply the remains of a human being that was entrusted to the care of this business, being a once famous ballplayer should not make any difference. Human remains deserve respect IMHO.

You wouldn't think a lowly lab tech would have access to ted williams frozen head... Is this company still in business? Perhaps for not much longer, as I assume other folks who are shelling out the big bucks to keep their loved ones on ice may start looking towards alternatives (ya know, like possibly - oh, I don't know - LAYING THEM TO REST WITH DIGNITY).

What's amazing to me is the money these places charge. A sicking and certainly most unprofessional act by this business (I use the term loosely) was the same money probably could have bought an elaborate casket and proper burial for Mr. Williams.

Wonder how long this guy has been doing this? And what other disrespectful things has he been doing? Are there no supervisors in this place?

There are 2 sides to every story. Don't buy this guys book. This is not the first time the guy has tried to make money off of Alcor. Who knows what really happened.

From Alcor's website:

"October 2, 2009: The Alcor Life Extension Foundation denies the outrageous allegations against it that have appeared in the media this week. Alcor especially denies mistreating the remains of baseball great Ted Williams. Larry Johnson, the ex Alcor staff member who made these allegations, was not employed at Alcor when Williams was cryopreserved. Johnson's previous attempts to profit from sensational and unfounded allegations against Alcor recently resulted in a court order prohibiting him from making further statements about Alcor. "Alcor is actively pursuing litigation regarding these allegations," says Alcor Executive Director, Jennifer Chapman."
