For the third season in a row, and the second consecutive year in the AL Central, two MLB teams will play a 163rd game.

As it stands, the Minnesota Twins and Detroit Tigers are tied for the AL Central lead with identical 86-76 records and will break the tie tonight.

Minnesota was a bridesmaid last year when the Chicago White Sox defeated them 1-0 in a one-game playoff and now they get a second crack at it this year vs. the Detroit Tigers.

The game would’ve gone yesterday but a certain Minnesota Vikings QB was playing against his former team at the Metrodome resulting in the Tuesday night game time. Online Sportsbook has the Twins listed as -165 home faves, the Tigers as +150 road ‘dogs and the Over/Under is 8.5.

The Twins were hot down the stretch, going 10-3 straight up, and putting up some runs, as “Over” bettors cashed in. Minnesota posted 9 Overs, 2 Unders and a Push in their last 12 starts.

The Tigers stumbled their way down the stretch, going 3-7 SU in their last 10 games.

Looking at the head-to-head numbers, the last nine times these two met in Minnesota, the Twins have been the dominant team, posting a 7-2 mark.

Righty Rick Porcello will be tasked with helping the Tigers capture the AL Central division but in his last eight road starts, he has struggled, with his team recording a 2-6 mark.

RHP Scott Baker will get the start for the home team Twins and in his last 10 games overall against the Detroit Tigers, the Over has cashed eight times.

Baker has been cooking in his last 13 home starts, as the Twins have gone 10-3 straight up in that time.

The Tigers have struggled in their last eight games when facing right-handed pitchers going 2-6 SU.

The Twins, on the other hand, have feasted on righties in their last 11, going 8-3 SU.

Minnesota is listed at +300 to win by a single run and +400 to win by two, while Detroit is +650 to win by 1 and +700 to win by 2.

The winner of the game will move on to play the Yankees in the American League Divisional Series and the Twins are seeing +1000 odds for the AL Pennant while the Tigers are +1500 to represent the AL in the World Series.

Both teams are relative long shots when it comes to World Series futures betting however. Minnesota is +2000 to win a championship and Detroit is the biggest underdog at +2500 to win the Fall Classic.

The 162-game marathon is over and now the real baseball begins.

Play ball!
