Well I'll offer what I can.. I've lost over 85 pounds and planning on losing more.
The first thing is, you have to realize that losing weight is a not a quick fix ordeal, its a lifestyle change..
I recommend completely cutting out soda, fast food, junk food and chips completely out of your diet. Those are basically empty calories that don't satisfy you..
On an average day this is what I consume..
Large bowl of cereal for breakfast, a large juice for lunch, And a dinner where the main course in either Fish or Chicken with a large salad and a big portion of vegetable..
Sometimes in between or late at night I'll have a small snack, I've really cut my portions with snack foods, I still eat them but I eat like two bites of a snickers, half a pop tart, or a bite or two of a cookie..
Exercise, I walk a lot.. I walk pretty much everyday to the store, to get water, to pay my cell phone bill.. I walk fast too. I also lift small weights but I'm not consistent with it.
I also drink a lot of water, it suppresses your appetite to a certain extent.
But the most important thing is KNOWING and REALIZING that its not a quick fix, its gotta be a LIFESTYLE CHANGE..
Trust me losing weight is good for your health and its even better for your soul.. The comments that come with it are great, it feels good having people that haven't seen me in a long time telling me I look good and having a couple of girls here and there flirt with me on the street..
Also if you are eating less, make sure to take a multivitamin so you are getting all your minerals and vitamins you might be going w/o..
Anything else let me know.
Eat 5-6 small meals a day (300 or so calories each meal) and lift weights 3-4 times a week. Drink no calories drinks (water, diet drinks). Be as active as you can whether it be walking to the store instead of driving, playing sports, mowing grass, jogging, riding a bike, etc - be as active as possible. I went from 265 to 215 in like 7-8 months and it really wasn't hard. Once you get into a program and dedicate yourself to it, it becomes part of your normal life. There are better websites than this to gain advice from - do a search for fitness or health message boards. Good luck man.
I eat two large meals a day.. is that something i really should change? I don't eat lunch until about 3-4pm, and then dinner at 8-9.. I am usually up until 2-3am...
More information below
I am 24, almost 25. I am 6'2, 250lbs
I am at my largest weight ever, and have gained 40 pounds in less than 2 years. I was tiny throughout high school and started gaining in College and it continued.
I think it happened because I work on a computer a lot. I use to eat fast food 7 times a week. I play alot of poker.
I have been taking it in steps to try to improve myself. I finally am eating better food, myself out this wieght. I am willing to do things to make a difference. but no where near great. I only eat fast food once a week. My girlfriend and I are terrible cooks and. We only have a few dishes that we both enjoy, so it gets repetitive. Fast food is cheap and convinent. I drink mainly just water.
Since these changes, I have stopped gaining weight, but I am not comfortbable with my current weight. I am ready for the next step.
I don't really have access to a gym, and I would like to run outside, but it will be getting cold.
You & I are the same height. BUT I'm 226 and have been weight training for nearly 25 years.
First off, ditch the fast food once a week.
Long distance running is NOT good for you.
Run for around 20-30 min with intervals.
(Steady pace for 5min then burst for 1 min.)
You need weight training to mix in.
Make your first meal (Breakfast) your largest of the day.
Mine for instance is a 4-5 Egg Omlette with diced Ham and on the side I have a cup of Oatmeal.
Invest in Whey Protein Powder.
