Let me explain (lets say tonights game)

I love the Dodgers and would really love for them to reach the World Series and I know it's gonna be tuff, but am I doing a wrong thing here?

Betting against them. (Small bet, lets say 100 dlls -130 on the Cards)

1. If the lose tonight, made me some money.
2. If they win at least I get the satisfaction that they've won tonights game (key game),but lost $100 bucks.

Do I make sense or you guys think I'm stupid?

But look at it this way, they're not favorites to win this series.
What better way to put money on the favorite and win some cash.

Odds are telling me "Your gonna make money" and that is still thinking with my head.

I think. :think2:

I think the key here is finding the right bet amount.

The bet amount has to be small enough and insignificant enough that you are able to root for your team , you dont want to find yourself pulling for your bet. ... BUT... the bet amount has to be just big enough and just significant enough to ease your pain if your team looses and make it worth your while.

If i was in that situation i'd just put a small amount on the Dodgers and be even moe happy or unhappy.

I do this all the time. Its like you're paying to see your team win. On sunday I bet on Denver even though i'm a Cowboys fan. If the Cowboys win i'm happy because they won and I payed to watch them win (kinda like going to the game). They lost and i'm bummed but I got some money out of it <><>

I'm sure we're not the only ones who do this.

Just remember that the key is to bet against them when you think they almost have no chance of winning.

I hope your right, but I'll still be happy if they lose or win.

But I would rather see them win tonite, cuz at least when I go see them in STL in game 3 I'll have a 2-0 or at least a 1-1 series before saturday,I'll feel better going into busch stadium like that than 0-2 series Dodgers down and watch them lose. It's a fucking 4 hr drive for me and the family each way.

GO Dodgers!~~:<<

Dude that MAKES perfect sense to me...I do that with the Yankees WHO I DESPISE!!! I throw $50 or $100 on them depending on line in the playoffs...If THEY win, I pick up gas, beer or grocery money for the week..If they LOSE, I PAID to get them out of playoffs & watch their pompous/annoying fans CRY LIKE BABIES!! MONEY WELL SPENT!!! GL

I did this in the ALCS in 04 with Sox Yankees. I put 600 bucks on the Yankees and still rooted my absolute heart out for my boys praying that I'd get to lose that 6 bills on game seven.

I was called a "traitor" and so on from my other Red Sox buddies saying you aren't supposed to make money off the Yankees... I tried and tried to explain, that was the whole point, I WAS HOPEFUL TO LOSE MONEY ON THE YANKEES!
