Does anyone think the general public has no clue what the Angels can do?

I dont understand any Angel line ever....I love the way they play, and i do not understand how the Redsox were ever a small favorite here....Id have them -125 or higher even with Lester on the mound...Incidentally he was dinged hard 2 starts ago by a line drive back the middle...I dont think he is right yet.

the Angels have huge righty /lefty advantages over lester....they are at home.....and the yankees steal 5 bases ion half a game vs the redsox catchers...what do the Sox think they are gonna do to stop the best running team in baseball?

The average bettor does not know who, or how good kendry morales, juan rivera, and erick aybar are.......id argue they dont klnow chone figgins is a sick defender and an amazingly effective leadoff hitter and a super tuff out......with the exception of mathis, theres not an ez out in this lineup....

The biggest obstacle to redsox winning i think..the angels probably (i havent checked ) have the best on base % in the league....every single or walk might as well be a double...neither varitek nor martinez can effectively throw runners out, and lesters gonna have to throw some off speed stuff, so its not gonna be easy for them....

I think the average person probably is aware of the angels ability to manufacture runs, but what they probably dont know is that sciosia is not gonna stop running in the 5th or 6th if they are up 2 or 3 runs....every, and i mean every base runner with the exception of vlad is gonna punish the redsox catchers for being so shitty..........its like little league baseball the way they will abuse them....if the redsox dont score 6 runs...i do not think they have a shot to win this game........

the angels should win this game rather easily, with fuentes being my only worry....

PS....for fun u can parlay this with the la kings for an all LA parlay that pays pretty well.

I have said it before, and I'll say it again, the only team this Yankee fan fears is the Angels.

I agree with you Zeke. I can never understand their lines, completely underestimated.

I also agree with you Bill. This Yankee fan does not want to face the Angels.

Many have fallen off the Bosox bandwagon because of their recent domination at the hands of the Yanks. I began the year thinking the Red Sox were the best team in baseball and still stand by that notion. The Red Sox possess a patient lineup that can easily run the pitch count up of the best pitchers in the league. Whos backing those Angels starters up? An average pen at best. The Angels no longer have the luxury of KRod Scot Shields and surprises like Arredondo to lean on when times get tough. Instead they have Brian Fuentes who has been incredibly inconsistent heading their pen with Kevin Jepsen and Jason Bulger as middle relief. Both of whom struggle mightily with control despite having some pretty nasty stuff. If journeyman Darren Oliver continues his freak season then the Angels have one reliable arm. However, he is pretty much just a situational lefty specialist.

Secondly, for the first time in a long time I feel the Red Sox are pretty underrated. Their starting lineup and bench is littered with gold glovers and their pen is easily the best ive seen in a long time. While the Angels may very well win Game 1, I believe the talent disparity between the pens will definitely come into play later in the series. Depth, defense, experience and a potent offensive lineup will have the Red Sox being a force this postseason.

The results of tonight's game (thus far) notwithstanding, I'll take the top two Red Sox starters-and Pabelbon-over the Angels' top starters and Fuentes any day of the week. The Angels have good hitting, obviously-they fielded a lineup recently that was exclusively made up of .300 hitters, the first time that's happened in decades-but high average, modest power teams don't usually do particularly well in the postseason-it takes lotta singles to string together big innings. They haven't lost all those postseason games to the Sox 'cause they're unlucky, you know....

I agree, the Angels are a pretty complete team

Especially at one point of the season having the starting 9 hitting .300 or higher, impressive...

Pitching will be their struggle, but having Lackey on is pretty big for them..

As a yankee fan, I think we have a better shot vs Red Sox..

The thread wasn't a posted pick or eveneant to bash Boston. Many of us observe and research every result even the insignificant 335 pm Wednesday games in July when Joe Pub is on vaca or toiling at work.

So by nature we overanalyze at times or see lines and view every line we don't get or understand as a trap.

This thread was about what I perceive as the publics genuine gap of estimated value on this angels team and their actual value. It feels like it's been going on for 2.5 seasons. Buffet gambler probably has a better idea. I know there's an east coast boas . But I think it's deeper The dodgers are priced right. I think the smal ball verse big bopper style mist make people think these guys can't score and they couldn't be more wrong.

Anyway the thread wa posted before the ge not after it and it was about the gap in perception. It was foregone conclusion the angels win ge and series just was confused by the sick price

Angels when on are a damn fucking good team. They are hungry and they fucking battle with a lineup just as potent as the yankees. THey keep coming at you and coming at you some more. WIth Hunter putting the team on his back this is the year that the Angel's can return to the world series. OFcourse they have to get past the mighty yankees and that would be a hell of a series, probably the 2 most potent lineups in all of the majors.
FUck the playoffs are solid this year, we get some powerhouse clubs in there.

i been on the angels all year long...they really impressed me early and i watched alot of angels games and this is a team that could very well beat the yankees if they can take out boston...I do think the books are undervaluing their home field advantage...this game tonight is going to be very big for weaver...if the angels go up 2-0 tonight i cant see the red sox beating them...the only thing that worries me about the angels is i dont think their bullpen is that great but can they get it done....i think so and they are the team i like to win the WS...
