This thing should be at least a buck by the end of the week. Buyout rumors are really picking up.

i was tracking this all day on friday and almost bought into it twice. it showed up when i ran my screen -- i think it was .62 when i first saw it, and that bitch ran all the way to .86. definitely worth keeping an eye on, today's dip isn't surprising considering friday's run up and the fact that it opened higher today. another thing to watch is to see if it makes higher lows on its dips, which is what it's doing.

think this is the first time in my memory at least that i've seen a stock get slaughtered on a buyout

never seen a setup like this either

where shareholders get some future payments if any of the former stocks drugs do anything.....hard to say what the value of the shares are right now....might be pretty volatile going forward.....

shareholders hardly getting any up front cash....all about if the CVRs payoff over the long haul

------------

Under the transaction, Metabasis stockholders will receive a cash payment at the closing of the transaction of approximately $3.2 million, less Metabasis’ estimated net liabilities at closing and an amount to be deposited in the stockholders’ representative’s fund (Metabasis currently estimates the closing payment to be approximately $1.8 million in cash). In addition, Metabasis stockholders will receive for each Metabasis share four tradable Contingent Value Rights (“CVRs”) that will be registered on a Form S-4 registration statement to be filed by Ligand with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The CVRs will entitle Metabasis stockholders to cash payments as frequently as every six months as cash is received by Ligand from proceeds from the sale or partnering of any of the Metabasis drug development programs, among other triggering events. Ligand has committed to spend at least $8 million in new research and development funding on the Metabasis programs within 42 months following the closing of the transaction.

still in that diluted guy?

post dilution action on the near term in majority of stocks i've seen is flat to down

i'd be careful on the small bio's overall

as the markets seem to be starting to warn of credit crunch part 2....so funding to keep drug development going is gonna get hard again

that's why mbrx did what it did...guess they felt it was better or only option probably to let ligand (55 million in cash) buy them for next to nothing.....and let ligand's cash position be put to work on their drugs and hope it pays off on the CVRs in the long term
