What I did was buy a prepaid cell phone and use it for when I have to give out my number. It's turned off 95% of the time, so when someone tries cold calling me most of the time it goes straight to voice mail, in which they usually don't leave a message.

last time i finally told them, yeah" send me what you sent me last time, but double it".....guy got all excited, said he needed my c/c number...i said charge it to the same card as last time...he said "Huh?".....

Vices are supposed to discrete. Smoking is a vice and they will ask you first if you want to be added to their mailing lists. A total sign of respect. Online books and porn related companies just send that shit to your house after buying your name off of mailing lists. Some people have wives and children that intercept mail and wouldn't want their eyes to be exposed to such material. I guess the marketing teams for the porn and gambling industry feel if you are into that shit you probably live alone anyways so it wont matter.
