magic will be very good again, hornets should continue to drop, wizards will be improved, fade the bulls early. take the knicks overs. that's my strategy.
Bucks will be under the radar. Bogut and Redd healthy along with this new kid Jennings, they have a true point guard who is an excellent passer. Picking up the journeyman Thomas will help on the court and in the locker room. Totally different team. Looking at some early unders on totals. Warrick is a great steal and leading the team in a few categories at this point. Also Mote is a great guy off the bench with great D and a never ending battery.
i think the nuggets will struggle this year. Their depth was bad last year, but it's even more putrid this year. I wouldn't be surprised if they don't even make the playoffs and karl gets fired.
I like the 35.5 over on the Thunder. Wizards will be nice but not at 41.5. I really have a hard time betting on the NBA with the replacement refs. I would expect more betting scandals only this time the refs will use other aliases and people do the betting for them. No one will be dumb enough to use thier own name (Donaghy).
The Memphis Grizzlies finally have a solid core of starters after signing A.I. for a measly $3M for one year. Iverson joins young and talented stars Rudy Gay and O.J. Mayo (looking for a big contract and worth one) plus the addition of Zach Randolph traded for Quenton Richardson to The Heat. The veteran strong forward is a regular double double nightly addition in the four spot when his head is in the game.
With those four playing up to their capabilities and of course staying healthy this will by a different and IMO better Memphis team. A.I. if motivated may help improve the games of both O.J. Mayo and PG Mike Conley's game by taking them under his wing.
In the middle the Grizz could be outstanding but it depends on if and how quickly 2nd overall pick in this years draft the 7'3" potential dominant bigman Hasheem Thabeet develops behind the steady but not spectacular 7 Ft. Marc Gasol in the 5 spot.
It's remains up to HC Lionel Hollins to motivate Randolph to combine with Iverson to give the Grizzlies some veteran leadership.
Bottom line is Memphis finally has a pair of top notch players in Iverson and Randolph to go with their young potential stars (Mayo and Gay). The question is can Hollins motivate this unit into a playoff contender and dare I say it a possible series winner in the playoffs. That is about as much as anyone can expect from The Grizzlies.
I know one thing Memphis will win more than 24 games in the 2009/10 season.
