my best friend in life, a brother to me, passed away due to bacterial meningitis. it hit him in 1 day and he never had a chance...i was the one to find him, covered in blood blisters head to toe and carried him to the hospital. i was the last one to see him alive and the last one to talk to him. i've never felt pain like this, nor seen such a great kid at the age of 20 go. has anybody ever lost a friend at such a young age? i'm in such a traumatic state it's unreal...

this just happened?

thursday morning at 3:30am...to boot, i got him off to the ambulence and they said they were transferring him to pittsburgh so i drove an hour down to meet his mom and sister and they told us 3 times he was on his way and that he was a half hour into his trip and would be there in another half hour, yet he never even made it out of the other hospital. we waited for 2 hours while they said he was on his way, so he was alone when he went...

ugh thank you guys. i have no idea how to deal with this, worse than any family death i've had. he's a roommate as well, i have to walk past his room everyday from now on...he asked me to stay with him throughout the whole thing even though he was dazed and confused and they wouldn't let me on the ambulence with him. even though he didn't realize what was going on, it seemed so much like he knew something very bad was going to happen

I lost my best friend in high school. Drowning accident. It's tragic and it took forever to come to terms with it. I was calling him up by habit for a few days after it happened to chill or something because it slipped my mind he had passed away. You know what I mean? Seems like it was just a really bad dream.

Sorry for your lose man. Take care.

I'm sorry for your loss.

I never experienced losing someone ( a buddy), at like 20ish. I am unfamiliar with the disease.

My sincere best wishes to you, and his family.

I have never experienced to death of someone close to me, at such a young age, I'm sure it hurts a lot.

dieing at 85 is normal, old age stuff, 20 is not

It's like your life was robbed from you, and you did nothing wrong !

I'm very sorry to hear this.

The Term "Best Friend" Is Tossed

around too loosly. Most of us are lucky to have just 1, and when we lose him or her it is devastating. I lost mine to cancer 20 yrs ago, and miss him everyday. There have been literally over 100 women in my life, 3 were extremely important to me. But when I ponder sometimes as OLD guys are prone to do, the one person I wish would walk thru the door is Bob! For over 30 yrs thru thick & thin, no matter what the circumstances he was THERE. 2 "ROCKS" in my life he & my daughter Julie. Your pain will ebb, but his memory won't. And that's a GOOD thing, I know I treasure mine. BOL and be tuff!! You're very young and if lucky you may meet someone else who'll also develop into a special person in your life. No one will ever take his place, but you may be one of the lucky ones to find 2 "best" in life. Take care.

my condolences

we tend to worry about the little stuff, but these stories tell you what we really should be concerned with in life, that being health, loved ones and life itself

Sorry to hear about your loss as I had a buddy of mine that passed away of a heart attack at 37 last year which was casued by blocked atteries. Was a big Steelers fan here in Cleveland and would run his mouth off all the time to the Browns fans. This week is tough as I still miss him and I was very close to the family as His father passed away about a year before he did.Its rough but remember the good times you had and keep in touch with his family as you go thru the healing process.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Many years ago, I lost my best friend to a Motorcycle accident.
The kicker is, that night he had a fight with his Girl Friend and stormed out of her house.
Got on the Parkway doing like 65, and crashed.

Hate to say, but ittook a lot of years to get over it.

After all the friends I have known, I'm left with just 1 TRUE friend. I thank my lucky stars for her in my life. Funny how so many come and go. My heart goes out to the ones who have lost. My heart don't ever quit:103631605
