The left field line ump missing the fair ball call in the Twins series is questionable since it was fair by 1 foot and melky's glove tipped it. The Angels call at 2nd base was the RIGHT call. Wasn't even close to touching the base, you're not supposed to call that??

Nope you sure aren't. As a 2B or SS you ALWAYS get the benefit of that call. It is just the way it is.

I am not commenting on whether it should or should not be the case but the bottom line is that to call it in that situation (ALCS, game on the line, etc etc) is just fucked up. Anyone that defends it either is a Yankees homer or never watches any baseball.

It was the correct call, and they said the truck went back and looked at every double play and Aybar did touch the bag every DP except that one. Right call, regardless of what anyone says. He was a good distance from touching the bag.

They do give the neighborhood call at 2nd base, but the defender still has to touch 2nd base at some point. Sometimes it may be before he catches the ball, other times it may be after he throws the ball, but they at least have to touch the bag.

Aybar? did not touch the bag. Safe is the correct call.

now I think the Angels may have been screwed at first base two times, and that Mauer call was unacceptable, but I have no problem with the call at 2nd base.
