These calls are bad, but nothing is worse then the call in the Twins vs Yankees Game 1. The ball hit in that game was fair by 10-12 inches.

it's a joke MLB doesn't have replay. Forget tradition and slowing down the game. It's about getting the critical calls right. Also I think by now fans are used to delays for replays.

I agree. Tradition of the game went out the window with roids and hgh. Its a different time and game then it was years ago. But as long as Selig collects his annual 18 million dollar contract he will just sit on his high horse and not do shit.

On the tag up play at 3rd by Nick Swisher, the umpire was guessing. He wasn't even looking at Swisher tagging up. He guessed and was persuaded by the reactions of the angels.

that was just fukkin hilarious, just shows umps are a joke.

i liked the yahoo vid with one of the analysts taking up for the ump, or at least on his side, saying at least he manned up after the game and said he missed it and is trying his best.
The shit was right in front of him. Plus other umps should of jumped in and overruled him or something.

yeah, but swisher was thrown out at 2nd which they didn't call, so that call on swish leaving early was clearly a makeup call

i do agree with that was what it was "probably" intended for. But i hate the whole "make-up call" thing. If they screw up you don't turn around and give blatant freebies to the other team for a "my bad" call. They need to just focus on getting them right for the rest of the game, and not trying to play make-up and who's owed who.

The sad thing is it happens in games in all sports, basketball probably being the worse.

But i still thing there should be a replay in a damn championship series game for baseball to make sure they get it right, or at least have the other umps huddle together and overrule the other, or just something.

i mean that shit was just blatant , it wasn't a slide or a close call on a run to the bag, or a ball vs. strike scenario.

The ball and strike calling is bad enough. But the base umpires, and especially the foul line umpires, HAVE ONE FRIGGIN CLOSE CALL TO MAKE AN ENTIRE GAME AND 80% OF THE TIME THEY GET IT WRONG!!! AND THESE GUYS ARE MAKING 6 FIGURE SALARIES!!!! They are without a doubt the most incompetent people (not just officials) in any capacity in any sport anywhere. PERIOD.
